Drive Line Loop Install
I bought a universal drive line loop now that I'm in to the 12's.
It looks pretty easy to install, but I was wondering if there are any tips I could get from somebody who has actually done one?
It looks like I'm going to need to drill holes thru my floor?

I'd look at the NHRA rules as well as any other sanctioned events you would plan on running such as IDRC or Nopi F&F. I believe it has to be a certain distance from the rear differential but that's off the top of my head. Which driveshaft loop did you purchase? Let us know how the installation goes. I should probably have this modification as well.

I bought a universal loop from Summit Racing.
So far my install hasn't gone so well.
The passenger side of my car on the bottom is lower than the driver side! I drilled all the holes, then realized that when I mount it, my exhaust will rub on it!
I guess the more holes I drill in my floor, the lighter my car will get!
I am going to find out how far it has to be from the diff. before I go any further. Thanks for the suggestion!

OK... I have it figured out!
On a TII, you would need to install it about 3" behind the shifter hole in order for it to be within 6" of the U-Joint.

Tony,
I don't have it installed yet, but when I do, I will take some pics.
As far as the flywheel shield goes, I think you can buy a Universal Jacket from Jegs or Summit. That's what I'm thinking about.

It's a good idea to have all the necessary safety equipment, but if you don't, they usually let you run until you start breaking into the 11's. I've seen more than one event where every car was on the verge of 11's but would not go there due to not having the proper safety gear. If someone decided to run an 11, the #2 car would protest and have him disqualified. Kind of a cheap way to win an event, but effective :-)

i fitted one to my first gen, and man what a ***** of a job, there is bugger all room under there between the tunnell and the handbrake stuff, you will have to hammer it and make it fit the floor pan properly, i had to weld the loops together and then bolt to the floor, would pay someone to do it next time...
