looking for a ring and pinon gears for the rear end, does the 4.33 swap in to a non-LSD N/A, or would you have to start out with the LSD N/A rear end? I'd really like 4.88's but haven't seen anyone that makes them. Anyone?

The highest I know about is 3.90 (stock with automatic), although Granny's Speed Shop is working on 3.23 gears to fit the FC.

It sounds like you're looking for LOWER gears, though... I've seen ads in older GRM's (haven't had a new one for a year, newsstand quit carrying them) for a company called SpeedSource that makes 4.88 and 5.12 gears for the FC.

Alternatively you could try using a '94-up Miata diff housing, which uses standard Mazda 7" gears (same as 1st-gen RX-7, RX-2, and RX-3SP as well as a few trucks). SHould bolt in to the rear half of the diff housing, but you'd have to rig up a new nose mount (using the Miata piece would make this easier because of the PPF mounts) and you'd also need a longer driveshaft.

One of the ideas that's been kicking around in the ol' noggin

Racing Beat sells 4.3's that will go right in.

5.12 aren't supposed to be very strong, because of the necessarily cramped geometry involved with the gear teeth. Just a FY!.
