Do 12A's have a thermal pellet in ecc. shaft?
Do 12A's have a thermal pellet in ecc. shaft?
I looked at two different 12A eccentric shafts quick and don't see a thermal pellet in the front end of the eccentric shaft. The shafts are pretty dirty. Am I missing something?

so is there any point to adding them in? i just did my rebuild and didnt have one, presumed that it didnt need one but i do still get some smoke on startup! (only 90kms in though to the rebuild brake in) was just wondering about it
The thermal pellet is a device to by-pass oil going to the rotors in order to effect faster warmup, or something.
Most people either eliminate the pellet or just install a pre-'86 non-pellet eccentric shaft. It's just One More Thing that can go wrong, and when (not if) it fails you can cook some important internals.
You can't just "add one in" to a pre-'86 eccentric shaft.
