coolant restrictor plates

Anyone using coolant restrictor plates from Moroso? I know they are good on high horse power piston motors with electric water pumps, and they flow continuously, just with a little restriction. Most people like to run them about 160-170 degrees. Any users and how well do they work?

We use ones we make ourselves in the race cars. On the street keep the t-stat, it does more good than bad. We use a plate racing because it is usually the cheap part that takes you out of a race, the fewer moving parts the better.

What kind of racing do you do and what size hole do you use to run at what temp?

Road racing in SCCA, We have a few different sized holes around 3/4" in different plates. I'd start with gutting a stock t-stat and go from there. Don't go by our set-up as THE set-up beacuse our cooling system is pretty elaborate. Dual pass radiator and two stock oil coolers running parallel. We shoot for 195 to 200 F water and under 220F oil.
