Building new motor. What bearings should I use.

First this motor is going to be built to run Time attack and open lapping days and general sunday car. Have ran 20psi with my current setup.

The new motor will have new housing and 3mm NRS two piece seals and I will be getting the motor doweled like this http://www.rotaryengine.com/productp...37services.htm.

What I don't know is what to use for hardened bearings and stationary gears. The racing beat and mazdatrix are alot of money and I heard you can use RX8/Fd's etc.

So those who know for sure and not just relaying information from the net what can I use.

Is there other things I need to upgrade that I am missing other then bearings/gears/apex seals?

RX8 new stat gears are cheap include bearings and are readily available through dealerships, just make sure whoever builds your engine clearances correctly otherwise you'll end up with premature failure.

If your not willing to modify bearings yourself then use FD bearings.

Also why are you going 3mm?
go 2mm.
Much more power.

Mechanic recommended 3mm. I though there was no difference in power. I read that the sealing characteristics of the 3mm ceramic and springs were just as good if not better then stock 2mm steel.

sure they'll drop in, but if not clearanced you'll end up with low oil pressure and bearing failure shortly thereafter. Search around there's write ups on using rx8 stat/bearings in s4/5/6 and the necessity to clearance properly.

Why not look into running some deep groove race bearings?

Along the lines of bearings......the RX8 thrust washer, plate and bearing are also interchangable but about 1/3 the price of the RX7 set from MAZDAMOTORSPORTS.

As far as the Comp Bearings for the rear stationary... the part number is the same between 2nd gen, and 3rd Gen... but the windows are different, and there is a set screw for the 3rd gen... do the race bearings have to be machined to work with 3rd gen stationaries?

Also, the 2nd gen has a single size front main bearing where the 3rd gen has several sizes for proper clearancing...

As far as the RX8 bearings, do they have different/better oiling compared to the 3rd gens?

if the bearings that are on your rotors(stock bearings) are good. do not replace them. stock bearings are always better then anything out there.. take the rotors with the stock bearings and have them deep grooved.. a good local machine shop should be able to do the job. if you want more information on how deep you need to go, let me know.. after that. use an rx8 e-shaft and rx8 front and rear gears.. a few other oil pressure mods and your good to go...

Are the RX8 Stationary bearing journals the same diameter as S6(3rdGen) Stationaries...

I do not have a pair to measure, in order to get the correct clearance for a S5 Eshaft...

If anyone has this info, that'd be helpful...

the MT bearings for the rx8 and the FD bearings have the same part number, so yes
