did some porting for a friend

a friend paid me to port streetport his FC irons. the center iron is actually from an NA i believe, so the primary ports started out pretty damn small, as you'll see in the pics.

we have to re-do the front secondary because i went a little too far down on the closing side and ended up doing a custom water injection mod :x

i know they're not the best pics, but let me know what you guys think.

yeah i'll post some of the custom water injection mod here in a second. lol

it looks like i didn't really post any pics straight on of the port openings, which are important. i'll post some pics of those in a second as well. also, i made the opening edge a little larger larger than the template.

here's the custom water injection mishap

better view of the secondary opening

better view of primary opening

it's kinda hard to see, but i added a .5mm bevel all the way around the port openings (more visible in the pic of the primary)
you can see in the shot of the secondary that i made the opening edge a little fatter than the template.

what do you guys think?

They look pretty good from the pics...those primaries look awfully big though, how far outwards (towards the water jacket) did you port? The bevel is only needed at the top/closing edge of the port. How long did it take you? Seems like you spent some time on it

Good choice on the white cheddar cheez it, except for the reduced fat taste horrible compared to the regular ones.

sorry i forgot to check this thread for a while.

i only went about 2mm out towards the water jacket. if you're talking about the secondaries, i agree, the ports are pretty fat, but there should be plenty of room for the corner seal. there's about 5mm between the outside edge of the port and the mark where the corner seal rides.

also, i'm about done with the new iron, and i'll be doing the housings tomorrow.

try to keep your lines (radius) as consistent as possible. focus more on the inside of the ports(runners) then anything else. tro to get a smooth transition into the closing edge of the port.(upper part) adjust your style of porting, according to the engines particular needs. drag, drift, road race.. etc.etc. bigger is not always better according to the applicaton and goals for a particular engine. here is a cell phone pic of a port I did recently. here you will see consistent lines(radius) across the port.
