Best Radiator?

My temps. are getting up to 220 degrees this summer and it looks like I'm going to need to get a bigger radiator.
What's a good one to get that is a direct replacement for my 87 TII?

I have the KOYO comp. Im not that happy with it actually, if your just on the street dont get the comp
KOYO radiator, too high temps.

I did hear from many people though that the fluidyne is nice. I think it requires some small modding to get it in though, but dont quote me on that...

the fluidyne is a drop in for 89-91 's but some slight modification is required for 86-88. i think

None required. ASE_Joe removed the old radiator and dropped in the new one in about 10 minutes yesterday. Perfect fit.

Have you considered changing your coolant to EVANS NPG+. Rod out the old radiator, flush the system and Viola!

koyo doesn't make one for 2nd gen.

the k2rd one looks sweet but you have to move the battery cause it's wider. and also I'm pretty sure you can't use the stock fan shroud with it.

I am using a Griffin radiator 27 ½” X 16” W/ 2 - 1 ¼” Tubes Chevy style. Very large surface area and a pretty good price from Summit Racing $287.00 I think. The only problem with these radiators and other mass produced radiators is that the end tubes are furnaces braised then sealed with epoxy which makes them very hard if not impossible to weld. When you apply heat to the epoxy it crystallizes. If there is a leak in the furnace brazing the epoxy is suppose to seal it. If there is a leak in the brazing, (Solder or what ever they use) where the epoxy crystallizes because of your welding “ YOUR RADIATOR IS NOW JUNK.”

I had to re-think my entire installation. What would have been about 2 hours became 8. BIG PIA. It stile turned out KEWL but it could have been much nicer.

the k2rd one is the best cooling radiators ive seen.
pros: its a double pass design
the core is the same size as the opening
you can get it with or without heaterpipes etc

cons: the endtanks take up part of where the battery tray goes (im using a tiny battery)
you can't use the stock radiator hoses

heres some installed pics: http://www.2751engineering.com/
the cym, cosmo t2 and 20b cars have them

ya I just noticed that. it's brand new cause it wasn't there a few months ago. also I can't find it anywhere else.

but I look at that pic and see no side brackets to mount it or for the shroud. yet the hoses are in the right place so it must be the right pic. so maybe it doesn't hold the stock shroud?

they are sold out anyways. for an extra $30 the fluidyne looks better.

Thumbs up radiator

I used www.are.com.au for my oil cooler and if I did not already have a double pass aluminum radiator from griffin installed I would have used their product. They will make anything you want and the rotor motor stuff they have on the shelf and they will polish the aluminum if you want. The Aussie dollar is half what your money is so very good exchange rate the owner had seriously cut his hand but I still got my cooler in a fair time, good shipping material, good quailty, and bigger than my stock cooler so more oil and cooler oil temps. Give them a try you will be happy and I live in Florida so I know high temps with a supercharger.

I'm middle aged. I can't believe I said that but it's true. I need air conditioning when it's 100 + in California.
3rd Gens. run way too hot. A real problem. The Griffin I used just fits between my frame rails Vertically 1/8" clearance on both sides. I wanted a 19" tall one but I could only fit a 16" with out filler cap (cut it off) under my intercooler tubes. I am running a pretty large front mount then the air conditioning condenser vertical then the radiator. Not really smart but the easiest way to do it. It is all fully ducked with aluminum. Also made a carbon fiber duct for my modified A'PEXi front bumper to the intercooler (A'PEXi GTR core with 2-½" tubes) and carbon F. ducts for 2 large oil coolers. I have a single turbo. Hopefully I will be able to run my air conditioning when I am suited up and running at Willow Springs in the summer. Running the air should not hurt lap times too much. The power loss is minimal.
Will it work? It better. I have way too much time in this. Unfortunately I can only work on it Saturdays so it is taking frigin for ever. So be it. I should be able to fire it either this or next Saturday.

Maby it go BOOOOM.

my FD still has air conditioning my TII the air didn't work anyway. lots of stuff didn't work. i think the only thing that worked that i removed was the power steering. single turbo FD's are fun. i should be getting my FD back this week hope it goes well

Radiator

I have the Koyo in my 3rd Gen, direct fit with minor trimming to the inner passenger bumper. Average cruising temp is low 80's. Mostly 81-82 deg. C, if you let the car warmed up and then restart, it will stay average 85 deg C.

Oh btw, my fan is always ON. I am a firm believer to drive with fan on all the time regardless.
