Buy cone filter alone, fab. up your own cold air box with direct air source vented in front of car, fab. your own piping. Around the same cost, but better performance and reliability.

I plan on going HKS with everything else (exhaust, downpipe, etc, etc, etc) and I wondered if i should go with them for the Intake also just to make the brand name flow..... I'm not going HKS with my clutch though.... ACT for that.... but for most everything else i plan on going HKS and trying to land a big sponsorship with them.

I can't see why you want to do that really. Why not just get parts from various places based on what works best?

I'm doing that because I know that most of the parts that I'm getting from HKS are some of the best performing parts. That's also why I'm not going with HKS's clutch, suspension, and a few other things. ACT and TEIN for those.

Yes, HKS is the best at everything. Clearly. And you know this for a fact. You are just doing it for the brand name. If you get an HKS exhaust, they arent going to sponsor you.

The FEED light cover gives you mad HP yo!
No I'm kidding, but it might help a little by giving the air a shorter, smoother path from the exterior to your box (or open element). But seriously, it's almost impossible not to mix brands as every brand is better at something than every other brand, while some brands suck at other stuff. It's very possible that a company could make really good turbos, but really shitty intakes. Catch my drift?
Personally, if I were in the market for a turbo, I'd get a Garrett. If I were in the market for an intake, Apex'i. LSD, a Kaaz or an S4 TII. Get what I'm saying?

IMHO, HKS is overrated. My FD and VR4 both have parts from all over the place based on performance/price. Doesn't matter who makes it.
I will tell you that the HKS downpipe is not the best. It's only mild steel which can rust, a stainless steel downpipe is a better buy. Then for BOVs, many prefer the GReddy units. Boost controllers seems to be between GReddy for inexpensive units and Blitz for a more reliable unit with a few more bells and whistles. Exhausts, well that really is just personal preference and same with intakes but I don't personally like foam filters and I'd suggest something with the mesh type filtering but thats really up to you.
Its your car so have fun and do what YOU like but I wouldn't really count on getting sponsored. Stickers are gay anways.
