best ignition? msd or jacob's

I second Roy's nomination. I haven't seen any test data or anything, but the HKS system does have some extremely attractive features:
- does both leading and trailing ignition
- won't kill stock coils
- small and easy to fit in the engine compartment
- easy installation - no wire cutting!
That last point is pretty cool. The TwinPower is the easiest thing I have installed on my car. All you have to do is find the connector that is near the plugs (not even buried under the manifold or anything like that!), plug it in, ground one wire, and mount the unit. It is so friggin' easy it is amazing.
I also got a tip from hksfd3s that seemed like a wise thing to do: squirt a little silicone sealant (RTV, whatever you have) into the three unused holes in the rubber grommit the wires come out of. That should keep the water out for long life.

Yellow Dragon is no more
Yeah, I add to that nomination of HKS. It is real small and I know 2 people running it with really good results. MSD always have good performing stuff ... but it breaks more than everyone else's stuff!!

What would be the best coils to use with the HKS system? Would the stock coils be the best bet or can aftermarket coils be put in for a better ignition overall, if so, what are the best coils?

HKS
I love using the HKS unit. I had it for about 6 months and it's awesome. You basically just slap that baby on and drive your car. I also put my car on the dyno and gained 25 RWHP with the GReddy pulleys and HKS Twin Power. I also noticed that a lot of the top aftermarket companies use the HKS unit on the FDs in Japan.

The stock coils are very good (and reliable), and they work fine with the HKS TwinPower. If you go to external coils, you might want to get a different ignition box since you are going to have to do wiring and stuff anyway. The main appeal of the HKS in my opinion is that it works well with the stock coils while still being easy to install (no wire cutting) and small enough to mount up by the ignitor or cruise control unit.

I have the Crane on my FD and the Jacobs on my FC, no complaints about either, but if I could do it all over again I would go with the HKS for the ease of install and it fires both the leading and trailing.

From a different perspective, at what point is it benefitial to upgrade the igniton? I used to have Taylor wires and NGK 9's all round. I now have new oem wires and new 9's all round. I asked Dave at KDR about upgrading the ignition one time and he said I didn't need it yet. My car pulls pretty smoothly to redline, but power does seem to drop off a little on the top. I don't get any breakup though. I'm just wondering if it would be worthwhile. I'm liking the Twinpower. I guess I won't know untill I get it on the dyno again the 31st this month.

Brett,
Did you dyno the car before? Just curious since I couldn't really feel the upper end of the RWHP Igained with it, but it did seem to seem that throttle tip in, like cruising in 4th gear at 4000 rpms, then toeing it in seemed like the car was read to fly. How did it feel in the midrange like the above situations? Like the hood
