yes, those are big DCOE boosters.

Torque curve is pretty flat from 5500 to 8500 rpm, then it falls off. I may need a better ignition; maybe torque wouldn't fall off then. But, I can't buy a new $1000 ignition now because racing season is about to start, and all my money for the next few months is going into lots and lots of racing slicks, entry fees, tow vehicle fuel, brake pads, etc, etc.

What kind of class do you race in? Are there only rotary cars there? What type of porting e.t.c is allowed? Just curios!!

I do road racing, mostly in the south east USA with Historic Sportscar Racing's old IMSA GTU class for under 3 liter piston engine cars and 2 rotor Wankels. Most of the cars are 3 liter Porsches, occasionaly another RX-7 or Nissan Z car will show up. No turbos allowed; gasoline fuel, must weigh 2000 lb minimum (without driver.) Everyone runs slicks, maximum size allowed is 16" dia x 10" wide on front and 16" dia x 12" wide on rear. The engine rules allow unlimited intake system, peripheral porting, any ignition. Any transmission or rear axle ratio. We usually get a half dozen to 10 cars show up to race in this class. - Speedturn

I asked a friend about this today because common sense says it shouldn't work. He explained why it does work and how, I don't have time to explain as it's lengthy and some parts I don't fully understand. I assume the exhaust gas hits the square edge of the header flange? He mentioned a taper or radius would help. Its all to do with scavanging with high velocity, high & low pressure and mass of exhaust gas.

Hmmm my RX2 came from alabama and was an older road racer. You may have raced against it.
