Atkins Supercharger
Has anyone ever used the Atkins supercharger? If so, how is it and is it worth the price? I own a first gen 12A and it seems fitting to use with my car.

I personally have never used it although I am 99 percent sure I will be getting one for my RX-2. I have talked to several people who have one and I have heard pretty good things from all of them. Everyone says to get the larger size one though. They are a bit pricey but everyone indicates that they are easy to install and worth the price for reliable performance.

Just make sure you set up the oil lines properly. Every SC I've seen or known about that has failed, has had a non Atkins oil line on it. Just use the oil pedastal fitting that comes with the kit and you'll be fine.
Dave recomends Amsoil 10W40 in his SC kits. There has been some discussion about oil on this forum (like 10W30 vs 10W40 vs 20W50), but if it works good for Dave, then go for it.

No I really dont think you need to use an IC. Using an IC for a supercharger doesnt give the gains that it does for turbos. You are already drawing in cool air from the outside...

Besides, it is not just the transfer of heat from exhaust gases that increases the charge temp on turbos; the physical act of compressing the intake charge also increases the temp. And for this reason, even a supercharger would benefit from an intercooler.

With the atkins setup it would be VERY difficult to include to include an intercooler since the carb sits right on top and manifold on bottom. YOu would have really fabricate alot. Just to get back to the question above though if you read through the supercharging FAQ on the page I believe someone asks if it needs intercooled and they say no, it doesnt.

MY exhaust is this || far from being done, and after that I am getting a wet 50 shot of NOS. I was thinkin about adding a S/C in the future(prolly 6 months or year from now). I would prolly find a way to set up an IC though. What kind of HP would you think I would get froma 7 in S/C, "true-dual" exhaust & a 50 wet shot of NOS? Think I could get in the 12s? A better question would be, do you think the car would be 12s material? Thanks alot.

Check out Nitrous Oxide Systems which is now owned by Holley. You're going to want to talk to the folks at Atkins about their fuel pump recommendation. (Remember, their sc uses a Holley carb while my Paxton setup uses the factory fuel injection.)
Don't want to seem like I'm blowing you off, but I'm not an expert on NOS, so I'd rather not give you advice that could blow your motor. The best thing I could say is to talk to Atkins, Holley and search the board for as much info as you can. Good luck!
