My friend just called me from Cali stating to me that Ari is in Cali and just ran a 9.0@15something MPH, the only details given were that he went automatic, hopefully we'll hear more details soon.

Doesnt that place him in the Outlaw/Modified class? Hes going to get beat up only running a 9 flat in that class.

 

It depends on what class and race organization he runs, that's the penalty for running an automatic, they require you to run with more weight or put you in a different class all together. Unfortunately in NHRA presently he is required to be running in the Modified class like you stated, so he is kinda outclassed running against half back cars(with the exception of Paul Efantis' car), and I found out the exact time, he ran a 9.083@155.25MPH.

 

 

I talked to him thursday before he left. He put in a clutchless 5 speed so it could almost sound like an auto to an unfamiliar ear. He was hoping to get a little more than a 9.0 out of it.

He said yesterday that he was looking for something around a 8.6-8.7. But that would've been pretty hard considering the track conditions. I was talking with Paul Efantis also and he said that the conditions were equal to a 4300' elevation. That should give a little insight into how bad it really was.

 

Would he be running in the street class, or is he now bumped to a quicker\faster class?

 

Modified class is what he was running at Pomona.

 

Aren't those cars (modified) running low 8's?
