Apex Seal Question - 2 Piece RA Super Seals

I was finally at the point to assemble my engine the other day. I was about to glue my apex seals together when I noticed an issue with my new seals. I found a notch cut into the smaller apex seal close to the lip that travels on the rotor housings.

I found similar notches on most of the other seals. The thing that concerned me the most is that one or two other apex seals were flush.

I know that some are cut to match the larger 2 piece seal. This doesn't seem to the case in my situation because mine are not numbered or labeled to imply matched machining.

It seems like the tip on the larger piece wants to get caught around the notch location. I would think that this would wear over time and not seal as well.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it normal to have a notch which creates a recess for the tip of the large seal?

I figured I would see what everyone here has to say before I send an email off to the company.
