Anyone with stock 13b non turbo with AUTOmatic i have a Question
I have a stock 88 rx7 n/a automatic. Going from a Dead stop i can floor the car and it acts like im feathering it until i get to about 3 or 4k rpm is that Normal?

yes this is normal. The transfer of motion between the engine and tranmission is done through a torque converter (do a search at www.howstuffworks.com ). Basically, its full of fluid, and once the fluid get rotating, which is done by the engine, it will cause the tranny to rotate. It takes time for the fluid speed to catch up to the engine speed, so you see the effects on the tachometer. Engine speed revs up but car speedometer takes a while to catch up. A manual transmission has a clutch, which is a solid friction disc. When it is engaged, the transfer of power is more instantaneous.

Ok good.. Well i used to own a 84 camaro v6 manual for like 7 years..nice change to the mazda but im not used to moving that slow off the line..I have no problem from like 45 or 50 MPH on the freeway when i floor it its gone...but iff i keep that automatic ill get the 3k stall converter for sure..not sure what i will do but thanks "HAIL TO MAZDA"
