4.88 final drive ratio?
4.88 final drive ratio?
Lol, I'm just testing the waters, because I might have access to one...
Is this feasible for a street setup? Gas mileage sounds like it'd be downright aweful, and I'd lose my top end speed by a big number... But man would acceleration be awesome.

Well, I'm skeptical, but I just wanna make sure every agrees that it's NOT a good idea, before I let go of the idea. Thanks!

I think it would be a good setup if you were running a larger size tire setup... lets say if it was a 1st gen with some nice size 15 in tires on them a much larger diameter wheel and tire then what came stock it might turn out to be a decent gear for you big thing is how high you want your motor to rev

The bigest issue would be what you would be comfortable with while driving on the highway.
Take a look at the link bellow and play with the numbers. Adjust the RPM to what you would feel comfortable in 5th speed.

I used this to work out 3500 rpm in 5th with a Series 4 trany at 72mph on 245/50 16 tires using a set of 4.88 gears. I could live with that. If you carried the car to 7500 rpm you would be at 154mph.
