Why not post this in the Parts for sale/wanted section. Might get more replies/views in there...

2 piece seals not as good as 3 piece dude, I wish that I didn't put the 2 piece seals in my car, although I am sure they will work fine.

everyone seems to think that the 2 piece seals are
no good and that mazda knows what they are doing.
well guess again mazda is in the process of changing
from the 3 piece to a new 2 piece seal by this time next
year it will be harder to get the old 3 piece from mazda
than the new 2 piece. cost of these new seals is looking
to be about the same as the old ones.

The RENESIS already uses them IIRC.

the rx8 seal is a 2mm seal but totals only about the
height of the top part of the old 3 piece, just seems
stupid that mazda didn't make them taller which you
would think would last longer before flipping out of
the rotor and destroying the motor.

my 2 cents
matt
you can see the rx8 seal here:

They flip out of the rotor if the apex seal groove is wider at the top than it is at the bottom. If you look at the groove from the side it will look like a V

i have seen more than one rotor have a apex seal flip
out after the upper part of the 3 piece seal wore
down to the point there was not enough left to hold it in,
and the groove didnt look all that bad.
a 2 piece 2mm would stay in the groove much longer
than the 3 piece.

Say guys that need your engine rebuilt, I would not be selling these apex seals at this price but I need the money to finish my car. 175 for the seals shipped. call mazadatrix, you are paying about half of what the seals cost. The package has never been opened
