110 Octane Gas

I remember reading that you can buy 110 Octane Gas from Sunoco or something for the barrell. Is there anythinng higher or know any companies that do this? But don't stress about it, i'm just curious. Thanks a lot.

This one dude had a 1/2 a tank of 110 octane gas (or some gas above 100) and went ahead and bought some octane booster that was meant to be used in small portion. His **** sounded weird after that. This dude is crazy Nobody beat my corolla.

Well its more like anything under 10:1 compression should use what ever. Over that it would be wise to look for highest available octane. Turbo cars go without saying. Although the 110 octane use lead. So will foul up the 02 sensor. But that dont worry me I dont even have one im my rx7 lol :S

Of course, there's one gasoline that's 130 octane--- it's aviation fuel (the green stuff) and it's chock full of lead. Not to be confused with the much more widely available 100LL, which is blue. The LL stands for "low lead", but it's anything but.
Either one of these fuels will completely eliminate any chance of detonation or pre-ignition in your rotary, but they'll also plug up your apex and side seals with lead over time (not to mention lead-fouling your plugs). If you're using cats it'll **** them up too.
The reason these fuels don't have this effect on aircraft engines is that those engines have much looser running clearances than modern auto engines.

I bet you i can make it detonate

I dont think anything is foul proof. Same goes with those new apex seals that are aparently undestructable... pffft Whatever. NOTHING is indestructable. !

Yeah, given enough pressure it probably could detonate. But realistically it's highly unlikely unless you've designed an engine/ turbo combination that will withstand unusually massive amounts of boost.
As they say--- Make something fool-proof, and they'll come out with a completely new kind of fool...

Saying that something is fool proof, is failing to recognize the creativity of fools.

There is unleaded 100 octane down here. And I believe there might be 110 unleaded at the track too.

I HAVE ran methanol.........lol. Only a tiny bit though and it was mixed in with regular gas. I'm sure its not good to do that, but it was free and I wanted to see what it would do. Besides my engine and everything else it could have effected is probably already worn out, so no worry here.

Fuel Resources

76 Racing Fuel

Sunoco Race Gas

VP Racing Fuel

Looks like 103 is about the highest octane in a street legal unleaded.

Anyone know for sure why the slightly higher octane unleaded fuels are not street legal? Will they be corrosive to your fuel system because of being highly oxygenated?
