Who would win?
I'm getting a 1987 rx7 turbo tomorrow and i already have some people talking crap about how slow rotaries are even if they are turbocharged. The first guy drives a 1990 bmw 325i. I've raced him in my 88 n/a and he murdered me. I looked up the stats on it and it has around 175hp give or take. He's topped it out at 125mph.
The next guy is the kid with the bmw's dad. He also thinks rotaries are slow (like father like son). He drives a 2001 cadillac sts. 300hp, top speed of 170mph. They've raced eachother and the caddy dominated.
Finally there's the kid i've always wanted to beat who has a stock 1984 vette. It used to be fast, but now it wimps out at about 120mph. But it has racing slicks and he knows how to launch.
Let me know what you guys think about this. Personally i think i can take all of them except the caddy.

When you get the car make sure there are no boost leaks. Look for oil residue which looks as if it has accumulated dust. Tighten clamps and replace broken rubber. Then change the spark plugs and air filter if needed.
Run them from about 40 mph to 80 mph. If your car is running correctly you should take the BMW and be close to the STS. If your tires stick run the BMW from a light.
Before racing be sure to baby the car and warm it up without boost. If you push boost before racing you'll cause heat soak and loose power. Don't warm up the car and shut it off. That will cause loss of power because of heat soak too. You'll get in a couple good runs before you start to have power drop off.

that would defeat the purpose of the rotary beating those cars.
and if you go with NO2 dont go any more than 50 to 70 shot and adjust your timing to -2 degrees.

Just get a dowpipe and a FCD for now. Then you will be able to easily kill them. Old vette's are SLOW as hell stock!!

Its a f'ing mid 15 second car..OMG thats pathetic!!!! TII's ran low-mid 14's STOCK. If you can't beat that thing, I dunno what to say man. The caddy is the only competition for now.

My mistake. Yeah stock looks like 14.7-14.9 for a S5. damn that suxs ***. Glad my TII's were modded. Still, the gearing alone in the 'vette is **** poor. It tops out at like 135mph. If you can drive stick, then my money is on the 7. I guess low 14's would be possible stock on a TII, but slicks and stiffer suspension would probably be in order.

I had a modded 87 turbo II way back in the day,1990. you will not beat a stock 84 crossfire vette .You must increase your boost, get a chipped ecu and a intake to make it close. They will kill you off the line,to much tq.

Ya, i've seen the vette in action it really does launch hard. But on top end it got owned by a 2001 prelude v-tech (mods: exhaust, knn)...I've just got the brake boosting technique down today...man i've always wanted to try that. With that little secret i'm almost positive the bimmer and the vett will be smellin my exhaust, but i still think the cadillac will catch me eventually considering how fast it passed the bimmer. If the weather is good, we'll all know on saturday.
