well the night started out with an srt4 following me down the highway for about 10 miles BEGGING me to run with him, but it wasnt worth it, my speedo stayed at 55 the entire time while he danced all around me making sure i knew he had an extremely loud BOV and exhaust.

so farther down the road, right before my exit (2 lane, 270 degree offramp) i see some lights come speeding up from behind me.... and a viper comes screaming past me.... "now thats worth it!" so i floor it in 3rd and take off after him up the ramp.

i passed him at around 70mph, halfway through the offramp, and by the time i got to the end of the offramp i could barely still see his headlights. i slowed down. im watching in my mirror, i see him come out of the turn, and i hear him floor it (he was maybe 50-100ft behind me by now, full on the gas). so i nail it in 2nd and shift to third, and by now his front wheels are at my back wheels, and we are both WOT....

we were like this for about a 1/4 mile, and neither of us gained anymore ground???? then a light and a fork in the road came and i went left and he went right. my gf who was with me, said he looked like a young guy, with a hot blonde in the passenger seat.

the viper looked brand new, convertable, side exhaust, very defined front brake ducts. either way, i thought vipers were like 500hp?! something seems amiss here. i can understand loosing him through the turn, but he was DEFINATELY WOT coming out of the turn, and he should have SMOKED me right there. although it was like 65 degrees out, and my boost was hitting almost 12psi in third gear, i dont think that would make that much of a difference?

can anyone help me figure this out? guy cant drive?

Good non death. Not too many people get to say they're able to run with a viper. I'd be interested to see what the turnout would be down the strip.

downpipe and thats it! although as its been getting colder ive been seeing my boost come pretty damn close to 12psi on the primary turbo, but thats peanuts in this situation.

this should not have been possible, hence the reason i made the thread. i would agree he may have just been pacing me, but when he came out of that corner i could hear that thing open up and i just waited for him to blow right by me, but he never did.
is there a slower model viper? automatic?

im still convinced it was the driver not the car. he also had a passenger (so did i but me and gf are MAX 300lbs put together) and he was a bigger guy. my gas was almost empty too. maybe he had a full tank, automatic, A/C blasting? still... that shouldnt be enough to make this possible.

EDIT: looking at the different packages of vipers, i dont see an automatic, so thats out of the equation.

I wouldnt raise the flag yet! His car no way shape in form will even come close to keeping up with a viper. But my friend has a 98' GTS and hes missed a gear and lost to a stock c5 vette. but a 1/4 miles the viper would catch up in no time i drove that car and it was crazy fast on the highway I would say some bullshit some mabe not but regardless the viper guy could just be ******* around

i didnt think of that, he could very well have missed a gear or mis shifted, hence why i could still hear his engine screaming.

either way, that still comes down to the driver and not the car, which is still my theory on the situation.

and to whoever posted that the viper could have raped me.... i KNOW this... which is the reason i made the thread (with a question mark in the title). i thought i pointed that out in my first or second post.

thats what i think. a friend of mine drove a viper, and even after years of driving his porsche and his CYM, he said it scared the crap out of him.

the guy was so young it gave me impression he just hit the lottery or daddy has a fat wallet (or hell, its daddys car) which either of the last two are VERY VERY possible considering the area i am in. and would give him great insentive NOT to wreck that car.

but the one thing that still makes me smile about this whole thing... is that my gf was there to witness a viper nipping at my rear end, reguardless if he COULD have smoked me.

Maybe his girlfriend was like my girlfriend and nagging him to stop racing .. I never can race with my woman in the car she is worse than the police (looking over at the speedo, giving me evil eyes at the stoplight when people rev on me.. ). I mean damn Vipers are not slow, they are premium super cars. Possibility #2, its his 'Daddy/Mommie/BigBrothers' car and he is on a date and doesnt want to wad up that car trying to show off and beat some Jap rotary.

damn that sucks man! my GF LOVES it when i put her back in her seat. i mean she doesnt egg me on to race people, but she doesnt give me heat when i drop a gear on the highway. she just grabs the side handle and holds on!

my best friend is another story though, hes such a puss when i accelerate on ramps and stuff to get on the highway.

him: "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, were gonna die"
me: "dude stfu were only going 70, the speed limit is 65"

my gf likes it more when people fly up from behind and start checking out my car though. or when some dude with his gf is checking it out in a parking lot or something. thast always the best. "excuse me" *puts key in door*

My girl was with me when the damn Maryland Transit Authority stopped me on 895 (Lasered me at 90) on our way to Philly, had me on the side of the road for like 30 minutes, pulled the Canine out, asked me 'Do you do herion' (I guess because I had carpet freshed my interior) then started mad ******* me (Short white cop) trying to get me to flunk the attitude test. She thinks Im a trouble magnet, Im like, baby, DWB is a MF. Anyway after all that they put my stuff back in the car and 'set a brotha free' .. Gave me a nice 200$ ticket for 78 in a 55 (I got on them brakes nice and hard when that Laser detector went off). FWIW if u merge on 895 from MD295 make sure u watch that median they like to sit there with the lights off and laser people comming on the ramp. So after that she is the speed limit ****. If she wasnt so hot I would kick her out the car LOL

BTW that SRT-4 is certainly worth it. IMO if he was modded you would have been toast. Those cars weigh as much as an FD but dyno at around 235 to the wheels and take extremely well to mods.

I hate those neons (that's why I love to kill them) but truth be told that those things can surprise the hell out of you if you don't know what you are up against.
