In the last run, the 350Z owner is calling my cell and asking to go off a 30mph roll, and then he wants to go off a second gear roll, so before my cousin gets the chance to drop a gear in to 1st , he stayed in 2nd instead and the 350Z started in 1st. that is why he kind of sticks next to us, but when my cousin gets back in to his power band we regain the lead.

hah yea my friend has an auto 97' SS and i'm not very impressed with it. I was pullin on him in second gear up to 50 then i let off. It was his first day with the car so i didn't want to beat him just yet. lol

350Zs and S2000s are fast cars, compared to Altimas and stock Civics.

But this is Teh Kills Section, son. "Fast" here is a little faster than that.
Fast is single-turbo FDs who smoke Camaro SSs like the proverbial cheap cigars.
Fast is 20Bs eating a lightly-modded Viper.
Fast is Supras who get wheelspin accelerating from 100mph.
Fast is a lightly-modded FD passing a F355 on a windy English road - in the rain.
Fast is backing off at 175mph because you're on a public road.
Fast is 500hp with traction control beating 500hp without it.
All this I have read and seen here.

Also, no matter how fast any car is, we can always bash it if there exists a faster car. And the driver? Hell yeah we'll bash the driver.

Yea I was going to say that.
The problem with the Z is that its a fat cow, a very fat one. I read an article where they got one to go low 13's by stripping it and sticker tires. Thats over a second off the 1/4 ; I think they easily removed like 500 lbs worth of stuff. But the car wasnt very street anymore.

I have an 03` 6sp Z with a few mods: Weight reduction: (Track wheels, pc680 battery, no spare), UR flywheel

Just thought I`d give some info from the other side of the fence.

Times: Yep, 6sp Z`s are a 13.7-14.3 car if driven well. 14.2 is low-averge. Autos are a bit slower, but not terrible - at least not until higher speeds. The car pulls in a very linear fashion through all of the frist 5 gears to 140ish. Torque is very nice starting at about 1800-2000rpm.

Fat cows: Pretty strudy rear-drivers. I wish it was 3000lbs, but it`s not. 3300lbs with plenty of techno/uxury stuff (Traction control, VDC/Slip control, power everything, etc etc). Mine`s about 3175 with the weight loss, no power seats, no leather , no nav. Feels notably quicker than it was at 3300 - but the flywheel helps too.

This race: Bad. bad. I didn`t expect the Z to win, but.... how much hp oes the rx7 have? 250? 300 whp? What are the mods? The Z makes 240 at the wheels stock, and is quite a bit heavier. Guess it was expected.

RX7`s are very nice. My folks had a 79` oooooooooold timer! Back when I was starting to drive. Very elemental and fun as hell.

That rx7 only has a dowpipe and cat back exhaust, thats good for like 225-235 rwhp maybe. shows how much weight difference really means.

I drove a 350, they are fun but it's weird how you can feel that extra 400-500 lbs, especially in the steering. Super sensitive gas pedal, i didn't like that but the brakes are amazing and it has good throttle response, torque is everywhere. don't hate until you've driven one, it's actually a nice car. Just needs a diet.

had an 04 maxima, and all I can say is dont hate, untill you drive a z or anything with the vq35. If you look at the maxima it looks like a fukin cow, wide and long. But let me tell you, it is extremely quick. Plus mine was auto, power everything. I wouldnt imagine the 6spd se. No problems hiting 120 at all. Throttle responce is great (dbw). ANyways, I was able to test drive the z( my friend works at the dealer so i got to abuse a lil more), and let me tell you, low end torque is awesome. I couldnt imagine that **** TT. Sorry for the speech, just dont judge cars that you havent driven or know about. Just because it isnt a 7 doesnt mean that it is inferior. That is one of the reasons I stopped going to is300.net, they swear cus you own an is300 everyone else is ****. Even though I had one for 19k

 

I think it's unfortunate that the 350Z attracts so many kids/first time sports car owners. The car in itself is not bad at all. It seems thought that the drivers have some kind of complex or retard syndrome (not all of them just the younger guys around here). Sometimes I race them in a really slow car just for fun and they don't impress me at all. They also drive and act like high tech ricers. Thanks for the input teacher it was good info. My 93 Automatic RX7 weighs 2700 lbs with some minor weight reduction and made 220 wheel hp with only exhaust. Best time= 13.9 @ 103
