Well, I just thought I would share my cousins first kill in his RX7 that happened last night. It wasn't nothing crazy but the story behind it and what led up to the race is kind of entertaining.

Its been 7 months since we purchased his dream car red 93 RX7. This month was the fist time that the cars secondary turbo problem was fixed. The car was not getting boost after 4,500rpms and would drop to 0psi. so ever since the 2nd month he bought the car, there has been this guy in one of his college classes who he also knew from high school a while back bothering my cousin and harassing him in front of other students and friends to race his new 350Z, which had a carbon fiber hood, intake system, and exhaust. He would always talk about how the RX7 is a crappie car, which overall has no performance and he shouldn't have not bought it. My cousin and I had installed an HKS exhaust and downpipe 3 months after purchasing the car with its boost problem but there was no way of my cousin beating this guys 350Z with the secondary turbo not functioning. I offered to run the guy in my MR2 but he declined. He said because and I quote "your MR2 is Twin Turbo". After he said that I didnt know what to say. My cousin turned to me and looked at me shocked. I was kind of confused!?!?!? I have no idea who told him that MR2's were twin turbo. Thought that was kind of funny and scary at the same time.

So finally after all this time and harassment from the dude, we finally get the car running correctly and give him a call. He says yes. We meet up late in the night on a deserted straight road with me in my cousins RX7 and the 350Z with his passenger. We wanted to go from a stop because I had just finished teaching my cousin how to properly launch the car, but the 350Z wanted a first gear roll. So we agree to a 1st gear roll.

I turn the video camera on and start to record. My cousin beeps 3 times and on the 3rd honk we are off. All I can say is damn! I knew the RX7 was fast but didn't think we would leave the guy so fast. it was instant pull. He shifts to 2nd and has about 2 cars on the 350Z. Shifts to 3rd and pulls even harder, we now have about 3 and half cars and pulling. I had to shift my body hard to get the rear shot of the 350Z fading back fast. I tell my cousin to shut off in 4th gear as we almost have a bus length on the car.

We get a phone call from the 350Z owner and he says that he had "no traction" and that he wanted to do it again. So we line up again off a 1st gear roll and we are off. same out come as before with us pulling hard and gaining many car lengths. The guy never had a chance. We stop at 4th gear again.

We slowly come to a slow roll and the guy now wants to go from a 30mph roll. Im thinking in my head "wow this guy just dosnt want to admit defeat".

So we go off a 30mph roll this time. Right before my cousin begins to beep 3 times, I tell him to get the car in to 1st gear, he was in 2nd and I felt that was too high of a gear, I knew the 30mph roll must have been the 350Z's sweet spot for him to request that speed. My cousin dosnt listen and honks 3 times. We go and the 350Z this time is next to us for about 2 seconds but when the secondary turbo hit full boost we start to leave him again. we cut off in the middle of 4th gear with my cousin 3 cars a head.

Im praying that the guy dosnt ask to go again. So the phone rings and its him, he still is complaining that he has too much torque down low and that hes not getting any traction. so I just whisper to my cousin to tell him good race so we can just go our separate ways. He does and the guy keeps talking about how he didn't have "traction" and that he wanted another run after he got knew tires. My cousin said sure and then hung up.

I was very proud of how my cousin drove the car. this is his first manual car and hes shifting very well. I guess that's thanks to my teaching lol hehe... j/k. I dont know if its the rebuilt motor the RX7 has or if its just my cousins driving but the car is fast for only exhaust and down pipe. I do mid to high 12 second passes in my MR2 and my cousin in 4th gear is only 1 and 1/2 car lengths behind me.

Well, I do have all 3 runs on tape but I am having a hard time finding someone that can transfer them to a cd so I can share it with you guys. I hope to have this done soon for you guys. Thanks for taking the time out and reading the story. I know the car is nothing special compared to some of your guys beautiful RX7's, but we hope in time that one day his car will be just as nice. and sorry for the length being to long.
