I love anything that makes my adrenaline pump but cruising the ROCK in a turbo Honda is just too much fun. Honda is the red-headed stepchild of Japan so beating on GTR's, Silvias, Scoobies, Lancers, Rotor motors, Supra's is just way too much fun. Yes, I get my butt spanked by 500~800whp cars but my car with all of it's parts usually cost less than one of their Mega-buck trannies or super bling-a-ding-dong turbo kits that is only good for dyno battles. I think most guys would rather lose to me than to barely beat me.
I might be getting a '97 FD if things work out right but I'm still gonna cruise my turbo stepchild.
Tuning a hi comp piston motor is easy. Start off rich as hell and trim fuel until you are within your safety margin of 12.3~12.7 AFR. Most of us who run more than 10psi use Power FC's, Haltech AEM EMS, Hondata, Motec, DFI or Zdyne full computers. I'm a Hondata S200 user. I ran 11psi on a stock 10.6:1 compression with no problems. As soon as I wire in the Integral 3bar map sensor on the new car I'm gonna try 14psi on pump gas until I get the 9.5:1 engine complete. The stock Honda 2bar gets goofy after 12psi. On a street setup a tuned high compression setup will give better response and lowend to midrange power since low boost is being used.

why not get 8.5:1 pistons and run some REAL boost?
I have been thinking lately and was wondering if the boost it is possible to run is linear relative to cr or does the gain in safe psi lessen after a certain cr?

8.5:1 compression is for people who are scared of their tuning skills!! What is real boost? Anything past 18psi on pump gas is DUMB. I will need water injection to go past 18psi since 100RON is the highest pump rating over here and I can not afford to buy race fuel by the BARREL from HKS.
Max.. I should start the rebuild this weeknd!

Still slow, but his car isn't running right.

Tuning does make all the world too. But if you walked him in a stock GXL, no matter what engine he had in there, if it was turboed he either wasn't boosting or wasn't tuned because stock they don't run too much slower than a GXL.

My friend Mike and I finally got around to turboing his 91 civic hatch. It took three days from start to finish and we had to make all kinds fo custom pieces to make it fit right. It had a B16 DOHC vtech so it was already kind quick. Added a custom header, Tial wastegate and BOV, huge intercooler (had to remove the metal bumper behind the bumper cover, and a T03 turbo. Now its going to run high 12's. Just because they're the most riced out car in the world doesnt make ALL of them gay and slow. It pays to know the competition. Some are some decent sleepers so watch out.

I ran that boost on my stock GSR motor for over a year. Centerforce clutch, Bogart wheels, slicks and a friend driving the car ran 12.89... LOL
Hondas are SO slow aren't they...

I like the idea of a true sleeper Civic. The world is just ripe with people who would get their butts handed to them because they are not scared of some itty bitty Cibic If any of you guys are out there with built motors and still running the plastic hubcaps you are my kind of people! Down with the F-Bodies!

The only thing keeping me away from hondas are all the ricers that give hondas a bad reputation and I'm a slightly bigger fan of RWD. If I had a choice of a honda it would be either an integra gsr or the old ef civic. Drove a friend's fully gutted, street illegal, can't pass GOJ inspection, glass top CRX. I thought I was driving a gokart on some serious steroids.

itadakimasu.................kwacchiisabira. They have all kinds of cars there that can eat a GTR alive. I know they have an old Datsun sunny(1200 I think) that used to walk all over them all the time. Hey Rutt, do you know if that sunny is still around? I think it was on of Akamine Engineering's car because I know it used to sit there all the time. Like I said before somewhere else, if you run around in a stock or "light" tuned GTR thinking you're badass you're gonna get clowned.

The SR20DET powered sunny hasn't been on the streets for a while. Hell, back in the day that crew of 1.3liter Starlets was pulling a lot of bigdog punkcards. Nothing like a 320~350whp car that weighs less than 900kg.
