I was cruising down HWY 101 this morning, and I see a white Mustang convertible ahead, with little traffic on the road. Hmmmmmmmm, perhaps I can have munch on a Mustang GT for a late breakfast. I get a little closer, and see that it is an SVT . I don't know what year. It had the chrome SVT logo on the back, and DID NOT have the Cobra logo on the lower bumper. I pulled next to him, and motioned for him to race. He looked to be in his 50's, and initially smiled, and waved me off. I started to drive away, and found that he had changed his mind. He pulled up to me, we both smiled, and both hit it from about 70 mph. I was in 3rd gear, and pulled about 1/2 car length, before shifting to 4th near redline. Once in 4th, I pulled almost another 1/2 car length before shutting down at around 115 mph. We both slowed down, exchanged a smile and a mutual thumbs up.

If anyone has any thoughts on the SVT performance, or the possible year model, I would like to know.

the previous gen cobras that are supercharged are 03-04 models. Rated at 390 BHP but actually dyno real close to that to the wheels. The tale tale signs of a 03-04 cobra is the duck tail spoiler, the word cobra branded on the back bumper, the hood "looks" vented and the front bumper is different.

99-01 are N/A and are rated at 320 BHP but also dyno real close to that. They have a "normal" looking spoiler on them and depending on the year the word mustang or cobra is branded on the rear bumber. The front of the car pretty much looks the same for all those years

I have to assume that the car was not the supercharged model. If it was, the race would have been much closer. I didn't really get a good look at the front of the car. When I came up behind it, I didn't see the "Cobra" logo in the bumper. I did see the chrome SVT marker on the left side of the rear. Did they make a Cobra in 2002?
