Stock 2001 Mustang GT vs 87 TII

all i have is K&N intake and an emptied downpipe.
as far as i know he was stock.

i was cruising up 495 north in MA and he started coming up behind me pretty quick. i saw him getting close so i downshifted and started going a little bit until he got past me then i went all out. i kinda of played with him for a bit...me follow him then i passed and he followed me...back and forth a few times because of traffic. then we finally got into the open. i was following him then i saw the next lane totally open. i went over and i was able to accelerate past him (slow and steady but still). i was probably 5 carlengths ahead when i hit 120 and let off. he flew by me and i just gave him the peace sign. as soon as he saw that he slowed down....i didnt think my car was that fast...dont these have like 300 horse. maybe he wasnt goin all out???

99-04 mustang GTs have 260hp

only 05 mustangs have 300hp

The V6 99-04 have 190hp

and V6 05 have 210hp

How did you know it was an 01 mustang GT?

As stated above, it could have been a V6, maybe even with GT badges. Did it have cut-outs for the dual exhaust? Nevertheless, good kill. But with only K&N and gutted DP, you would not have pulled 5 carlengths on a GT. He wasn't pushing his car if it was, in-fact, a real GT.

yeah i doub tit was a GT or he wasn't pushing it also you would have deffinently noticed that V8 growl that that puny v6 can never reproduce. anyways good kill? i guess i could say haha. i had fun with one of the 05 gt convertibles last week dead even basically pulled a tiny bit but we had to stop trafficaaaa. but my set up is a lil diff than yours turboback, fcd, hks intake, walbro pump.

yeah i kinda doubted it to which is why when i beat him i really wondered if it was a real GT.

i never knew mustang guys put GT badges on their non GT mustangs. i thought that was only for hondas...

well i guess i beat a V6 mustang then...either way it was still fun.

oh dont worry about it. i was in disbelief that i was even close to a GT...but it makes a lot more sense that it was a V6 with GT badges...

yea any mustang from 99-04 will massacre a stock T2 they run real LOW 14's in the qtr to high 13's and their 0-60 is in the low 6's like 6.1 i think.

Yea...don't be clouded by the bull floating around the net. 99-04 mustangs are not slow. They aren't fast but they are far from slow. And mustangs also have a ton of potential, the only problem is that there are too many owners cruising in stock 4.6's thinking they have the fastest car on the planet.

I know I have driven tons of mustangs( work at a ford dealership) I'd just like to think a t2 would be faster.

3in exhaust, 3in tid, mbc, walbro you know the standard stuff shouldnt it be quite a bit faster than a gt? (I know it's one of those questions)

I dont know much about TII's but i would say no, not much faster than a stock GT or just as fast. Don't T2's run 15 secs stock? To shave a second off would take a lot. Then again, when you get an mbc, it depends on how high the boost is turned up.
