SRT-4 and stock FD
This story is sorta a Kill sorta not. Anyways......
so today im heading to work on the freeway and a red SRT 4 starts tailgating me. Theres a 2 lane left turn coming up so i downshift to speed up and enter the turn, slowly pulling away from the SRT4. Towards the end of the turn there are 2 cars in each lane so i straighten out as much as possible and brake hard. Next thing i hear tons of tire screeching but i kno its not me, look in the mirror and i see the SRT doing 360s. haha, he did 1 and a half 360s from what i could tell. Just thought it was interesting.
Forgive the cocky statement, but this is the 4th time in my life ive seen someone try to hang with me in the turns and lose control.
oh, my FD is stock except for 3" exhaust.

chrysler has made a shitload more turbo cars than mazda or any other car company in the world for that matter has. the srt4 took too long in coming.. chrysler owned the pocket rocket market in the 80s just like they do now with the srt stuff. woo

Yea a couple of the SRT4 guys i kno are kinda cocky. I personally wouldnt get one but for what its worth, i think the SRT4 is a good powered car espically for the money.
Yes planning to go to rotorfest. My shop alone we have 1 FB guy, 3 FC guys and im the lone FD guy.

230HP stock is what I beleive the latest ones are rated at. I was driving a Lexus Es300 a few years back in the rain and wasnt even going that fast and went into a turn and looked in the rear view to see the car behind me spinning around!!! Funny thing was I knew the guy.

Yah I'm not a fan of the owners but those cars can certainly bite. Since the owners are typically young it explains why they are cocky.
Young + HP = Jackass.
It's funny because 4 out 5 SRT-4 guys will do something cocky when they see me. Either rev at me from across the street, try and show off their BOV in heavy traffic, gun it in the freeway and then take the next exit real quick. You know in situations where there is no way possible of a race. When they do that I just think to myself "my gift to you, is that I don't break your heart today". lol

Yeah, thats whats sorta holding me back on getting one. Just the overall attention and rep the srt4 owners give/have. I know when i get one, ill be far from one of them.

lol, the srt-4 may be **** on the corners but in the straightaways with serious mods and proper tuning they can kill and fd pretty easy. don't get to cocky and underestimate these cars, because maybe some day you'll find one srt-4 in the street heavily tuned and its all over for your fd. where i lived theres a guy that has one with serious mods and he may be **** in the drag (fwd=****, spining tires all the way) but in the street when he does a roll race is a damn different machine. im not a fan of this srt-4 but they're a very respectable machine with high hp capabilities. if chrysler would've done this srt-4 and awd car instead of a fwd car, this car would be a real menace on the corners and on the straightaways, too bad is only fwd.

^ I agree. Next to my house is a shop known as AMS, specializing in EVO's, but they have a monster SRT-4 running 9's as one of their shop cars. Lots of potential in these little cars.

Not the company
One of my friend's at work has the commerative edition white w/ blue stripes SRT-4, and while it's quick i can still pull away from him in the long run. Eventually he'll be upgrading and i've seen how fast those things can get...so it should be a good run.

I'm not really understanding the reason behind your post. Nobody said the SRT-4's were slow.

actually the mitsubishi GST and GSX is a joint venture of chrysler and mitsubishi, so i know what you mean that those engines have a high HP capabilities as a friend of mine drive a 10 second GSX.

Been there, done that.
I had a 1g 94 talon tsi, the fwd model. I believe that only came out in 94?? And car was awesome but the 7 bolt engines prevented me from going crazy on it engine wise cause of crankwalk. Plus 1g dsm's were ugly as hell so i sold it. I could have gone with a 2g gst/gsx but again, 7 bolt engines and i didnt want to do a 6 bolt swap, i honestly dont like the idea of spending alot of money anyway on an older car, especially an eclipse/talon. So i talked away from the dsm world.
The SRT4 is something you shouldnt play with. With the right mods (and its not many), can be REAL beasts. Yeah so what its a neon, but its an aggressive neon that will destory many cars on the road with the proper mods.
And plus right now, i can get one for DIRT cheap, dealer costs since my dad manages one. The car is still relatively new so it still has the warranty and i could do dealer warrantied mods on it and make it faster. I think its a win win situation.
