Wow vipers that can't turn for **** and have 70/30 weight distribution, FD's that weigh in at 3200lbs this thread has got to be one of the most misinformed threads I have ever read on this board. Too funny and I happen to own both cars thank you both highly modded so I know them inside and out. My Viper turns just fine thank you and my FD last weighed in at just below 2700lbs.

New Z06's which are faster than Vipers have gone down to tt cars.
On 14psi? Nope. Absolutly impossible. Rich...goodfellafd3s on his BNR stage 3s put down 421 at 17psi...and those are pretty much the king of twins. Unless you had BNRs your car was not faster than a viper...These guys running 120s on twins are NOT stock twins...they are modified twins such as BNRs. Boostn7 i have no idea if he is full of **** or im missing something...he is saying hes going 125s with a 1.7 sixty foot...thus making him go 128s without a launch...which is physically impossible on twins. But even...this guy has STOCK twins meaning he is trapping 115 and if people would relize ET does not matter on the highway. You can run 9s and trap 115(not possible...just an example) and get beat by a mid 12s car that does 120. Look up the Trap speed of a viper and look at his trap speed. That guy didnt know how to drive or was in 5th gear.

Zero R, I know your FD is heavily modified, how about the viper? If you put your money on either one, which car would it be, thanks man.

New Z06's trap almost 130mph in stock trim. I have personally seen a stock one go 11.2 at 129mph with ET streets. Are you going to tell me there are twins FD's running 130mph traps to take one out on the highway? You have no idea what you are talking about my friend. Remember i am talking about on the highway too, not from a dig.

Ya, Mr. TT has only owned & modified (porting, NO2 applications, supercharging, etc. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Gen) RX-7s for over 25 yrs. He's built & ported over 1,000 blocks. Go look in the Good Guy/Bad Guy section on this Forum - he knows more about rotaries than you EVER will.

I have stock twins. Guess what? I've not only pulled Vipers but a new ZO6 (by ~ 2 cars) from a 70 - 130 mph roll (3 times in fact - he kept coming back for more).

ZO6s are NOT trapping 129 mph on street tires. On average, they are trapping 122 - 127 mph with an EXCELLENT driver on street tires (ie Ranger at the helm).

BTW, 2 benefits for an FD vs a Viper on a roll:
1) significantly lower Cd & frontal area (.29 vs a .39 is HUGE on a high speed roll)
2) cool/high airflow for the turbos

This forum is full of little gromets that think they know everything, when in fact, they are rotary neophytes. This is why I don't post my kills here anymore - too many gromets with big mouths always calling "BS" when they are significantly misinformed and/or have a general lack of racing experience.

Wrong Newbie. Brooks ran an 11.4 @ 120. on 14 psi on a HOT Florida day. he dynoed the car and it made 362 rwhp so you don't know what you are talking about, do a search.
Secondly, 14 psi is not what the poster said, he said 1 bar. 14.7 and on the on the PFC that over 16 psi.

Ignorance. First Vipers, depending on generation trap 117-123, stock twin cars are trapping higher numbers. Secondly, I have multiple friends with Vipers and my car, on stock twins was faster, period. We even switched drivers. My car was faster than my buddies 97 GTS with all the bolt on with a stock block at 14 psi. I had another friend with a 3rd gen ACR with intake, exhaust, and other bolt ons that I could pull on summer days doing interstae roll ons. I had a ported motor, all the bolt ons running 17 psi on the stock twins.

You also don't take into account intercooled cars make more hp going down the road than sitting on the dyno due to charge temperature drop. Peter Farrell stated he made 20 more hp on average. In hot weather he stated the race the car was slower.

He's on stock twins and he's not "full of shi#". He is well known and here and is a straight shooter. he posted his 125 mph run as well as his 10.98 run on STOCK TWINS.

So he's now trapping 115 because he's on stock twins? Matty trapped 118 on the same set up.

I know the guy that did it. He is a perfectionist with over 600 runs. Nobody even gets close to his times. There are a handful of stock twin cars that have make runs at the drag tracks over the years. You get another Ranger in a well prepared car and the times the trap times would be faster.

The one who doesn't know what he is talking about is you, my friend.
Sitting at a the tree the IC heat soaks and charge temps rise, slowing down the car. On a roll the IC charge temps DROP making more hp. I have talked in depth with Corky Bell about this...does he also not know what he is talking about?

well I will say this, 421rwhp is enough to run mid 10s with a good driver. My friend (ratincat for those that care) ran a 10.5 on slicks with 415rwhp.

now..I don't know really, but the last time I checked, 10.5 was a quicker ET than 12.whatever...so...yeah, that's that.

Mr rx-7 tt ,
Why are arguing with a 19 year old? I don't even think he knows who Brook Weinsblat even is. This guy was 10 years old when Brooks was kicking ***.

turbodrx7,
Nothing against you but sorry man I remember Brooks, and if you knew about him you wouldn't be arguing. I also remember had had stockers because of the driveability factor.

Check his time and trap speed. He does say that he modified just about everything on his car but does not say exactly what. Too bad

Rich,
The guy who bought Brook's car wrecked it two weeks later.

Long live the Fikses!

Oh and Brook's replaced the 7 with a Viper GTS with mods. (Headers, exhaust, etc.) His Rx-7 was slightly faster with only 360 rwhp @ 14 psi.

http://www.dragtimes.com/Dodge-Viper-Timeslip-1627.html

Quote from Brook's.

"11.4 was decent back then for stock turbos...The Viper is great, had it over 6 years now.... If I had more garage space, I would buy a 3rd gen RX-7 in a second.... "

He is right...i have never even heard of brooks and i had not even had any interest in the rx7 until 2 years later. It doesnt really matter how old i am...yours dont state your age but im not going to bring that up. Besides all the points...since this got far off track...It all comes down to is that the maker of this thread has claimed on his car 115mph traps and a viper traps higher. So yes twins cars have been in the 120s...but this specific car would have quiet a bit of trouble beat up on a viper with the driver having experience in the car. Leave it at that...no hard feelings TT

I was thinking his car looked just like yours minus the wing for some reason those wheels look so much better on red than other colors to me...

one thing thats good about the stock twins is the power curve. I have beaten two different single fd's, on low boost, that both made alittle more rwhp than my stock twin car.

Point i am making is 360 is just a peak number. the importantance is the area above the curve or your average rwhp from say 5k to 8k.

lol that's exactly what mine weighed on the highway scale.... 2780. only "weight reduction" I had was my cd player was out of my car @ the time.

Agreed. I have beaten and stayed side by side many singled FD's on pump. Still got sauced by the 06 srt 10 though. My car weighs 2740 w/ stereo and street rim/tire set-up. G
