Single FD vs 03 Cobra take 2....and...3 VIDEO *soon*

You may have seen my last post when I raced the Terminator...
https://www.rx7club.com/racing-kills-lounge-10/single-fd-vs-03-cobra-578115/

Well sometime after that race he installed a KB 2.2 IIRC. He made just over 600hp to the wheels. without the nitrous.

Well while out driving around the other week I met up with him and we raced again. Sadly my boost was out of control and kept hitting 17psi(my limit)And anyone with a profec b spec II would know one you hit the limit you can set it to release all boost(well at least to the WG spring setting). And the first time we raced as soon as I went WOT i was bouncing off the limiter. from 17 to 13psi. over and over. so I let out early and got walke HARD. I turned the boost down and we ran them again. This time I did a little better but in the upper RPM it crept to 17psi again and the limiter is hit again, and boost falls off and I let out. He got off the HW and I lowerd m boost abit more and got it under controll. But The Snake was gone. It wasn't untill after we raced that I found out that he went KB . so I figured the only reason I lost was bc my boost controller was hitting the limit.
boy was I wrong. lol here is the video shot from the Cobra
http://media.putfile.com/9292006-Racing

the other night I was out and about and got the chance to line up with the Terminator again.

Video of these races will be up soon hopefully. My last race with the terminator was not filmed. but we tried a 1st gear roll and completely missed 2nd and was left in the dust.

Then my last races of the night were against a H/C LS1. I pulled him down the highway pretty easily a few times. Then we went from A dig And I got him there too. We tried a 1st gear roll and I was soo low in the RPM that when we started it was like I was in reverse lol. We tried a dig one more time and Once again I pulled him. The owner was pretty cool too.

Unfortunately the cobra blew the lower blower gasket. But I'm not sure If this happend before or after my races with him. I was hitting a peak boost of about 16.6 psi

WHEW..Cliffnotes: Whatch the video(s). Missed 2nd gear and was toasted. Then I beat a SS comaro on the wighway and from a dig. I lost from a low 1st gear roll....bad lol. Sorry for the long post.

I got the boost under controll and got my rematch....just waiting on the camera man to get the video edited and posted. I saw the footage after the race and it looked pretty good.

Later that night the Cobra texted me and said he blew his blower gasket. I'm not sure but I think it happened before our race. I'm sure we'll line them up again sooner or later. He still needs more tuning and he hasen't even sprayed his new setup yet. should be pretty nasty

There is no way the ACT street/strip with the stock clutch disk is going to hold your setup at 20+ psi, I am very happy with my Spec Stage 3 sprung 6 puck

Thanx for the advice, Is your 6 puck very streetable? How much did the setup cost you(parts only) and how much power is it rated to hold? I'll have to do some research on what's available out there before I make my choice.

You can surf over to www.specclutch.com for prices. It was around $500. I believe it's rated to 518 ft-lbs torque, not sure if that is legit or not.

It's a pretty damn streetable setup. The pedal pressure is pretty light, which I'm not a huge fan of. but, it isn't an on/off switch like a lot of unsprung 6 pucks I've driven, you can engage it with a little slip at around 1200 rpms. Once you are used to the point at which it grabs, your passenger would never know it's a 6 puck clutch. It does make a bit of a whining noise when you first pull from a stop, but I kinda like that anyway

22-23psi on cobra is pushing it on pump gas. most KB guys dont go over 17-19.

Get the ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch w/ Heavy Duty PP. As long as you aren't 75years old your left leg can handle it. It is Tricky at first when you have to learn to drive the car without slipping the clutch though.

Wow you NEED to film this. My friend is so obsessed with the 03-04 Cobras and says an FD can never hang with one. I would love to show him an FC killing a Cobra.
