My friend's FD has 713rwhp and he pulls 9's so I'd imagine this will become another flame war once the 3si fruits discover this like they did my thread. Didn't want to believe a N/A FC (S5 with few mods) could whip an SL apparantly.

They are a GT car, NOT a sports car, the FD is the only sports car imo of the group of the jap "supercars" from the 90's...

The Supra weighs about ~200lb less.

Very true about gearing - a VR-4's 3rd is so tall that it's hard to get moving very quickly in the second 1/8th, and 4th doesnt kick in until 120ish, then 5th and 6th are so tall it's not even worth it. Some guys are solving this problem with JDM gears - which reduces the theoretical top speed (i.e. redline in 6th) to ~208 from ~240. The AWD 3/S 1/4mile record that was just set (10.6 or something.. maybe 10.4, i forget) was done with these gears. I'm not sure about N/A gearing, however, but they are shorter. However, I also know that the FWD record holder (11.4 or something) just stripped his 2nd gear at the track... so if your guy's got 700fwhp and an N/A trans... well, dont hold your breath.
Hope that wasn't too fruity... just trying to discuss constructively.

the guy is runnin a upgraded clutch, a turbonetics T04S-04, apex acvr boost controller, front mount IC, swapping the auto and puting a 5 speed tranny (told him to use the 6 speed VR4 tranny, alot of modifying the interior (more weight), putting aome 18's (more weight) & he said he put $16,000 which i dont believe cause theres only between 10 & 12 things on the list & only 6 is for the engine
The 3ooogt base or SL will have the advantage at top end speed, because of all the weight being transferred to the front. So I wouldnt doubt a non turbo 3000GT if it was modded correctly...

Any car built correctly with 700 HP, whether it is FWD or RWD will be fast. We can all speculate as to who would win but there is only one sure way to know, race.
If there is doubt over whether or not that guy has 700 HP, ask what his mods are. If they don’t include heads, cams, turbos, complete fuel system, engine management just to name a few things, odds are, he is full of ****. The 6G72 is a very potent motor if built up correctly. I have a few friends that have very fast VR4s. If that guy swapped motors, he could have a quick car.
Anyone who says you will win, without know exactly what your and his car has, doesn’t know his/her *** from a hole in the ground.
Again, there is one way to know for sure, race the man.
I think it’s a win win for you. If you lose, you lost to a highly modified car with 700 HP. If you win, you beat a highly modified car with 700 HP.
Good luck.

With that setup, theres no way he will make 700hp..lol...He would need ATLEAST DR800 turbos, DR stage 3 heads, AEM EMS, Cams, IPO dual feed fuel system, blah blah blah....The FD is gonna bitch slap that 3000
