showdown comming 3000gt vd FD

This guy said that hes putting down like 700hp. said he took his car to orlando and had put all this stuff on the car. From my understanding the car has a single turbo. but its not the vr4. just a regular 3000gt. still heavy and cause its FWD i know ill get him off the line no matter how much hp he has.

the duel will go down in november since my turbos are smoked and im going single. Lopez racing with the turbo hes putting in my car T70 (by June 17th) i will able to RACE HIM so just curious to you guys if i will win.

T70 FD vs standard 700hp 3000GT FWD

remember its going down in november so i should have enough time to prepare.

The 3000GT's are the biggest pigs of all the imports.
They weigh a ton and feels like it.
Buddy had a 97 VR4 with AWD, and it is a nice car with alot
of japanese gadgets and etc, great for a Touring car.
But as for a race car?? haha

If you are single turbo or going to be.
Get her tuned @ 18psi on race gas or
15psi on pump gas. You shouldn't have a problem
spanking that over weight pig they call a 3000gt.

correct me if im wrong, but those cars weighs in at like 3800lbs.

and the funny thing is that its the standard front wheel drive car. not the vr4 so 700hp on a front wheel drive with a heavy car sounds slow.

where can i get race gas from. or can i tune it on 93 octane

isnt there a video online of a 10 second daily driven FWD 3000GT SL?

ive got a vid of a white SL running low 11s from a few years ago.

the FWDs are A Lot lighter than the VR4s

dont understimate you opponent

The sl's weigh in around 3200lbs. So if he does have 700hp, it will be a quick car. No traction, but fast.

I doubt he has 700hp though, even though it is easy to swap in the vr4 engine and then throw on some bigger turbos. ImportpowerOnline (IPO) had a single turbo sl that ran into the high 120's with its traps. It hit 11's, but it was also a track car and I am not sure how well prepped it was. It may have been better, who knows.

And the vr4 is a nice car, just a different style then the fd. Stock for stock, they are comparable in the 1/4 and the both take to mods really well. It is just the fd is a more fun and tossible car, and the vr4 is more a gt car and very comfy.

base 3si = 3100 lbs
sl 3si = 3200
even if he has 500 hp hes still going to be fast
i doubt he has 700 though
the heads on the 3si have problems at that flow rate, unless hes got new heads, i would raise the bs flag on him then toast him.
otherwise, watch out, you may have a race on your hands if hes a good driver.
your best best is from a dig, youll have traction
from a roll he could be dangerous.

Yes, well kinda. The stock exhaust is fine for stock turbos. It isn't until you get bigger turbos that the 3s will need a aftermarket exhaust.

However the stock intake I am not sure about. He would need pretty much every other mod like d/p, cam gears, clutch, fmic, gutted cats, CF driveshaft and other stuff. The 3s can reach 12.1 on stock turbos and a good driver.

how modded was the sti? if he could only get 3 lengths from a roll on an sti he probably doesnt have 700 hp (unless the sti also had 700hp).

What color STi, and how modded, if its just bolt on's then he has no where near 700hp, hell i'll walk him on low boost. I have a friend that will probably race him in his WRX! (not STi).

Well I guess that would be a good way to guage how fast your car is. If the 3000GT only beat the STi by 3 cars, modded STi or not, that's not 700hp. Maybe 400. Maybe. I agree, check out that STi and see what happens.

aren't the SL's lighter than the VR-4 3000 GT since they dont have all that extra drive train components? I raced a friend with a 300 GT he had intake and exhaust(i think) lighten flywheel and race/street clutch and I won by one cars length. Thought that might contribute.

3000VR4's arent that slow, they are severely limited by the pathetic stock fuel system, pathetic excuse for turbos(9b's). They launch hella hard on the street and once you upgrade the fuel and turbos to something comparable to the Supras STOCK turbos or the RX7s stock turbos, they are quite fast. But, overweight. They are a GT car, NOT a sports car, the FD is the only sports car imo of the group of the jap "supercars" from the 90's...

Eh SL's are about 3400lbs depending on the year. The VR4's are 3700+lbs. One advantage the RX7 has on most cars is the gearing. You'll launch like diarhea out of my *** and hopefully have enough power to keep ahead. However 700 street driven horsepower seems like bullshit. My friend's FD has 713rwhp and he pulls 9's so I'd imagine this will become another flame war once the 3si fruits discover this like they did my thread. Didn't want to believe a N/A FC (S5 with few mods) could whip an SL apparantly.
