This should NEVER have happened!

I was on my way home from Michigan last night in my FD. I don't have any crazy mods yet, as my income is not what it should be right now. I have 3" dp and mp, a stage 2 Spec Clutch, and 8lb flywheel. I cross the state line into Ohio and am just passing the Jeep ****** Plant, when up ahead I spot a very low profile, very wide car. Amidst the traffic, I notice it has some extremely angular lines to it, and HUGE rear tires, so I decide to go see if this car wants to open it up or not.

I finally work my way up to it through all of the cars and semis, and holy s#it ... it's a Lambo Gallardo! Well ... I'm immediately shocked to see one in Ohio ... toledo no less, and then I think, what the hell, lets see how far this guy will push his Raging Bull, if at all.

I pull up next to him, and pace for a minute. He looks over at me with a grin and nods his head. So I chuckle and shake my head, hoping to **** him off enough to race. He IMMEDIATELY revs it up, and wow. wow. I'll have to admit that the exhaust note of those things is absolutely astonishing. Anyways, he's behind this ugly H2 hummer, and I have an open lane, so I down shift, and punch it. I take off, and I see his headlights dart out from behind the hummer. There is an abundance of traffic and I start weaving in and out looking for another open lane. Hes following right on my ***. Big surprise. I see a small gap in between a couple cars in the right lane, so I make my way through them and go WOT. Apparently, the Gallardo couldnt make the gap as I had the highway to myself for a brief moment. Way back, I see him break from the traffic and pour it on. At this point, I'm just hitting 130mph. I can see he's getting a lot closer a lot faster. just as we make it into Rossford, I see another block of traffic ahead. There is a long swooping on ramp as we approach the traffic, so instead of slowing down I keep right on the gas. With the Gallardo right up my tail pipe, we meet the traffic, and I swerve way over and into the on ramp, pass the block of traffic, merge back onto the highway and continue at open throttle. I glance back, and the lambo is nowhere in sight.

Either he couldnt make the on ramp, or he got cold feet. In any event, it is a kill that, in my book, should never have happened.

eh ... knew someone would say it.

no excuse really. Just saw that I might have a chance to sneak away with a kill and didnt feel like losing it.

In retrospect, I will agree that driving like that is stupid. Hell, I hate when other people do it when I'm on the road. But, it happened, and it was a Gallardo. I rarely get the chance to race anyone so, I figured I'd post it.

A race is when you both line up evenly on a section of freeway without traffic and go.

What you just described was a stupidity contest. Please don't do it again.

Saving up for life insurance might be more apt... Aside from the sarcasm, like rynberg mentioned, please don't do that again.

One race. One time. Never had an accident in it. Never had a scratch. Stupid? yes .. i think i mentioned that already. Its good that all of you are too stupid yourselves to notice that. Again I thank all of you for making me feel better about being ANOTHER stupid rx7 owner... without all of you, i might have been alone.

haha, owned...

Although I can't say I'd have driven like that, I definitely would've tried to race the Gallardo... I'm sure somewhere like Florida has a bunch of them, but I've only seen two in the Seattle area.

I cant remeber the thread, but someone was talking about how their buddy in the middle east saw gallardos and mucielagos in abundance. according to the story, people over there ( people meaning sons of filthy rich oil tycoons ) who used the lambos like their everyday grocery getters. Crazy.

He's fine if the boost holds at stock levels. Remember the cat back is the final restriction in the exhaust system.

That's as much of a kill as a geo metro with clear taillights claiming he beat a viper on the street.

Nevermind that the Viper was parked with nobody in it.

That wasn't even a race. You expect a guy to follow you at 130mph in traffic, that is just stupid. A race is when you get next to each other, either from a roll or a dead stop.
