RX7 FD T60-1 vs Porsche 911 Turbo 450hp
This race happened a good few months ago against a guy I know. Unfortunately he passed away in a car accident a month ago
This was when I had my Garrett T60-1 and the Porsche was a 2006 Turbo. It had been uprated to 450hp over the standard 420hp and had the paddle shift gearbox.
Anyway we did a few rolling runs from 40.... first run I was set at 17psi and in second gear. At the end of second we were even, into third and again pretty close but I was just infront... I shifted into fourth and just started edging away and his front bumper was level with my passenger door, got into fifth and he was at the back of my rear bumper. At the top of fifth 7500rpm I was about a car infront before we let off.
Second race again from rolling at 40 but this time I set my boost to 20psi. We started from second gear and I pulled on him hard, into third and he was already level with my passenger door, into fourth and he was a car behind... by the end of fourth he was almost two cars behind. I shifted into fifth and when I got to 7500rpm he was between 2 & 3 cars behind.

Yeah he was one of those rare drivers who knew how to push a Porsche hard... he drove his car to the limit and when we raced he always wanted to go to the top end... after a few runs I chickened out because the speeds were getting ridiculous. I still can't believe how quick & easy it was to get to those speeds in the RX7

Sounds like he went doing what he loves, though.
There's a guy in one of the track clubs that I'm in...about 5 years ago, he showed up in a Ferrari. Like your friend, he drove the crap out of the thing, regularly spinning it into the kitty litter at places like Laguna Seca and T-Hill. About a year after he got the Ferrari, he showed up in a 360 Modena. We couldn't believe how hard he drove that car too.
He passed away from Cancer about a year ago now, but I won't soon forget the way he flogged that $100,000 dollar car. Beautiful.

Yeah you could tell the guy loved pushing his Porsche hard and driving fast... I don't think I've seen a 911 Turbo come off a roundabout sideways flat out like when he drove it!
