potential race: 01 eclipse gt vs. TII

I have a race that will probably be going down sometime this weekend, maybe tomorrow. One of my friends just sold his 325i and bought a 01 eclipse GT. It's stock besides a $300 dollar intake he just installed. I've ridden in it and it's got a lot of bottum end, but i know mine pulls harder up top.
I have a removed ap, ac, bomez air filter, tune up. Just wanted to know who u think will win. I'll try to get it on tape.

if the only performance mod you have is an air filter then sorry but i think the eclipse will win.

stock TIIs are far from power monsters compared to even slower current generation cars. up the boost and they wake up quickly though.

Looked up its stats. Here they are: 200 HP @ 5,500 rpm; 205 ft lb , 278 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and it weighs around 3000 pounds. I guess it will be a drivers race then

Thumbs up

I think that you can take it. Though you both suck at driving. J/K! Our friend with the little white 1st gen took one. Well look at it like this if you do it before the Auto X this Sunday and you loose, take him to the track and see who the better driver is then. Well you could still go even if you win.

The TII and 01 Eclipse GT make the same power. The TII weighs at least 200lbs less and is RWD, so from a dig I think you'll beat him.

Also, make sure you give him a nice big hearty laugh when he leaves his transmission in pieces at the starting line...I've got stories about 01 eclipses that will make every turbo rotary owner rethink the definition of unreliable.

Well, first of all before i even raced him i raced his dad's 97 cadillac sts. It has 300hp and is supposed to top out at 170mph. We went from about 15-90mph. First gear i pulled about 1 car lenght, then i chirped into second a pulled maybe about another quarter. At the end of third he slowly started to creep on me (which i expected), but i think once it shifted again i would've started pullin away again
Now for his eclipse. Before we raced we went out on the highway and did a top speed run and we topped it out at 130mph....not that great, but i guess not bad either. Anywayz we went from about 25-90mph and i brake boosted at the beginning. When we started he was lined up with my side view mirror but by the end of second he was around my bumper. I went to the top of third and he maybe slipped back about a foot or less. We did a few more little runs and i walked away from him every time.
We're going to go from a dig probably next weekend, maybe sooner

I ran an eclipse GT on the highway in my VERT and pulled on him in 4th gear from about 70 to 115. You will kill him. Those cars SUCK.

In the first post you said it was a GT. The GT is a SOHC V6 200hp, nothing to fear at all.

My brother BARELY lost to one walking the clutch out. He had already caught it by the end of 2nd, then ran out of room. And this was in an S5 GXL. Even with a crap launch the FC was going to catch the thing.

Get a good launch, and you should have it.

If it is not a 06 ECLIPSE GT, then it is wack. 200hp Turbo Rotary RWD is a completely different beast than a 200hp V6 NA FWD. I've seen them go and they are not impressive at all. You should pull him on the top end for sure. The intake for you will help more than an intake for him. Hopefully your motor is in decent shape. Just get a Full Exhaust, and leave him in the dust after 2nd gear. Before i even had my full exhaust, just 2.5" dp and mp, I smoked 15 sec cars like nothing. and I think a Prelude h22a with boltons is more of a beast than a eclipse. Wanna look at the stats?

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 7.0 15.4
1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo 6.6 15.2

Nope, but sometimes i wonder...actually his car is pretty nice he has 20 inch rims, altezza lights, ground affects, and a nice system which = more turned heads then my car gets.
But i gutted my cat last night and installed a 91 exhaust on it and now i don't think he wants to run me anymore. I was surprised how much that really helps. It pulls harder all over the rpm band and it is a lot deeper sounding.
