Porsche Cayman S - pretty quick!
Driving home from Easter dinner last night, I was cruising down the freeway when I see HID's behind me. Always curious to see if its an exotic car or a e-bay kit on a geo metro, I slowed a little. Eventually passing me on the left is a brand new looking silver porsche - At first I was kinda confused - it kinda looks like a 911 and a Boxster at the same time. After he passed me I noticed the center exhaust exit and the Cayman S badge. Hmm never heard of a Cayman, lets play
We continued down the freeway, getting out of the city and closer to the airport. the speed limit goes from 60 to 70 here, and theres always trucks on the right lanes going towards the airport. The Porsche starts pulling away from me fairly rapidly, so I nudge down the accelerator and keep tailing him. I change to the left lane, passing all the trucks, he gets in the right hand lane and settles down to 70, and I slip in behind him.
Big stretch of road here and its fairly dead. I downshift to 3rd and accelerate, pulling into the left lane to pass the porsche. I start coming up on his left, he sees this, and apparently did not appreciate it, and starts to speed up. I floor it and start coming up on him, and he punches it and for a second or three, I'm not going anywhere - it feels like we are standing still. 80-90-100ish goes by, I shift into 4th and start barely creeping by him, starting to lose sight of him out the psgr window by 130ish and I get off the gas (fast enough for me). As soon as I let my foot off the gas he comes sailing by (apparently he didn't lift ) .
I let him pass and get back in the right lane, slowing down to a reasonable speed, he slows down as well and turns his lights on and off, signaling me. I get over to the left and pull next to him, and hes got this huge smile and gives me a big thumbs up. I wave and pssht the BOV, then slow down to get in behind him again. He gets on it and I am right on his rear bumper, he isn't going anywhere this time. Up past 100, 110 and again and I start to reel him in, the rear bumper getting closer and closer til I let off again about 120-125ish. I probably could have passed him (who knows what would happen in 5th though) but I had no desire to do 150+ to try and prove it. I flash my lights at him and slow down, and we both slowed down again to just cruise. About 4 more miles go by, and here is my offramp, and as I put my blinker on, I see him take off again. Too tired to chase now and heres my exit.. 'Nuff for tonight
Not the most exciting of races, but it was fun. That Cayman is a beatiful little car, and pretty quick to boot
Oh - Me = 93 FD, power mods are 99 turbos, power FC, HKS Hiper Catback, Apex'i intakes - 300ish whp

My good friend's dad got one not to long ago. We play tennis quite a bit. He drove to the courts and said lets run after were done. He's a great guy but not a car guy. Had the same attitude about the FD as most do. We got on the interstate on ramp going about 35 and both punched it. I let him get a 1/2 car on me and proceeded to put 10 on him by 140. He let me drive a few weeks later and it felt and drove great. Very fun street car. G
