Please Don't lie...
I don't know about you, but I'm sick of some of the poser's saying that their stock Turbo II beat another 350z. I'm not saying all of you here are doing it(not at all) Just please save our time and tell us the truth or say nothing at all. Being a ricer isn't an action, it's a attitude. I know how ant-rice we all are(being rotary nuts) but u posting a fake kill; is just as "ricer" as the Civic Dx that just revved at me. Come guys....

I beat the **** out of a 350z parked on the side of the road today... does that count?
ok, 350's suck *** to begin with... but the thing is, not everyone knows how to drive a car. The power to weight isnt that huge and if the 350 guy isnt on his game he can lose to a stock turbo II.

But i still have trouble beliveing that a car that runs in the low 14's (stock) sucks so much ***. Plus, that was just an example. I'm not saying every 350z kill is a fake, just thats what came to mind at the time. Unless you have a video to back it up, I could say that I beat a Mclaren F1 if I wanted to. Just this whole section of the forum is filled with too much bullshit for my tastes.

I don't know about you guys, but I've raced a few 350Z's (possibly the same silver and black ones in my area) that seemed more like 15 second cars. I can't see why a Turbo II would have problems with these cars.
I've been thinking about this. I'm guessing that most of the 350Z owners are new to sports cars and are just getting into racing their cars. Most of the guys I talk to that bought 350Z's (I only know two guys) bought them for looks and just found out they are fast. Now they're getting into the racing thing "I can beat your car, but I want a twin turbo set up to kill corvettes."
I really believe that some of our guys are coming up against these new "racers." They dont have the experience to bring out their 350Z's full potential.
I know I ran consistent 14.2's on my first day at the 1/4 mile track with my wife's mustang GT. It was completely stock except for a drop-in filter and mufflers. The weird thing was that most of the other new mustangs with the same mods were hitting 14.9 and worse. One guy in a silver GT was hit a best of 15.2. So it really comes down to the driver.
I'm not saying we believe that all these kills are real, but I'm just trying to point out that the allmighty Z can be beat by a stock trubo II when the Z is paired up with a crappy driver.

What are you basing your claim on?
Have you road-raced one on a race track? And sucks compared to what? An FD? Maybe. And RX-8? Half would pick either car. A TII? You've got to be kidding.
Stock TII's are slow. I know, I owned one at one time. When I owned one I had the same mentality that it was the quickest thing with 4-wheels on the road. But looking back how foolish I was...
They are quicker than most econo-boxes yes, but TII's are out-dated. Old Suspension, old engine technology.
Plus most 350Z's haven't even seen their full-potential from break-in yet. I know my Maxima with it's VQ30 is just starting to break in...at close to 96k miles. I'm seeing better power, and better MPG. My driving technique hasn't changed much either.
I'd take a 350Z over a stock TII any day of the week. 3.5 Liter V6, verses 1.3L rotary, displacement always wins in the end.
Yep,
Elevation's right. But it is true that the outcome lays half on the performance of the operator. My first car was a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. I thought that was the ****. But looking back my 7 now could own it. It's really all in your mind. I think a stock 0-60 time for s5 turbo II is like 6.8 or something. And thats off the show room floor back in 89-91. I doubt any car can maintain it's out of the box performance at 16+ years. I'm not raggin on 7's I OWN ONE but it's just this thought process has kinda gotten out of hand.

i dont know man the 350z really aint that fast. i raced one in my old turbo talong and handed him his *** from a stop. but i raced a supercharged one and he rolled on me like i was sitting still. so id say its all in the driver
thats why IMO i think you should not be allowed to post kills unless there is a vid to prove the kill and if you do have a vid dont say it was for example a corvette with intake exhaust and a chip unless you know for a fact or have proof on the vid that this is true
Beating a 350Z...
Hey Anti-Rice,
Good point on the fairy taleing.
I`ve got a 350Z and I also have a 15 flat second Taurus SHO .
Why does it matter? Well, after driving the SHO almost since the big hair 80`s, and driving the Z for a year and a half I can say that it is NOT a race. If you can shift them both without the need for a sundial to time it (the SHO`s Mazda pickup tranny is not easy), you will have a smack-down.
1/2 the guys on this thread are absolutely right - driver effort and talent is everything in the win/loss street race thing. Maybe not everything....
So, to the mav`s out there and the ``It`s a 15 sec car, that 350Z`
people I say,
I raced them - the modded 5 sp SHO in good condition with 73 mm Mass air meter, Superchip, bigger exhaust, K/N - and the stock 03 Z. The SHO has so-so torque and a very nice top end with a 7700 rpm cut off as modded. This Sneaky Pete does 15 flat in the quarter at about 92-93. The Z was bone stock with nice fat, slow-m-down 18``s on it that weighed 54
freakin` pounds each (tire and wheel of course).
The Z left the SHO by the 1-2 shift. 2 cars. Another 2-3 cars by 60mph and the 2-3 shift. It didn`t get better after that. Filmed it with one hand on a digital cam and one hand driving. Yeah, I knew it was gonna be close.. . (nowheresville btw) After all the mag numbers, all the posted 1/4 time slips, and my own experience, I feel safe in saying that a stock 6sp 350Z , 500 ft above sea level, driven pretty well (not blazin`, powersfhiting, psycho speed) can do 14 flat @100mph unless it`s a lemon motor. Can you cross the qtr mile at 15 seconds? Sure, just shift at 4500 rpm!
Turbo II`s don`t trap 100 mph stock , do they? I thought they were near 15.0 flat , like my big , heavy, and silly-fun SHO.

I've never had a Turbo 2, but have had three stock FDs and a 350Z roadster. The FD stock in good working condition is quite a bit faster. I wouldn't doubt the Turbo 2 in proper working stock condition with fresh motor is faster than the 350Z as well.
350Zs are sleads that seem to need another 100 HP. Just my opinion.

Sleds and 100hp
Yeah,
Doesn`t everything need another 100hp? Funny how that goes.
Sled vert Z`s still do low 14`s in the 1/4. If that`s slothish in your book that`s fair. A 12 flat pullied Cobra will make a 13 flat car a sled by comparison too.
Get a hardtop Z and lose 200 lbs. That`s a good start. Mine is another 100 lbs less than that. -300 is noticeable.
I`d like to see a fast Turbo II around here. I appreciate any sports car that does it`s job well. Not many left on these roads unfortunately.

I have a 350Z (with CAI) and my friend's nearly stock TII can take me,it has like an exhaust and hi-flo intake, a couple other things I cant remember (nothing big), we switched and I beat the Z in the TII, thats why I am looking for a TII now. Maybe my Z has a couple of horse power stealing grimlins in it, but....I doubt it....
Hmmmm....I wasn't try to start a battle between 350's and 7's. I'm just sick of bullshit stories, glamourized by kids that would never be able to pull it off. I mean , I'm 16 and I can see through them. Pics vid's or something to prove would be nice. W.e. no big deal

I have my own reasons for not liking the 350. I have test driven them from the showroom and slightly modded ones that friends have had. I think the blind spots are outragous, the interior rivals a 93 in longevity and it feels like I am piloting the QE2 around a corner. This is my own personal opinoin, other people are free to make up their own opinion.
true true
You are right, Mav. The Z may not be your cup of gruel.
I like it, you like the 7`s. Let`s enjoy them. I DO wish I saw more 7`s around here though...so many crap box minivans and genero-cars.
Now about that QE2 JAB...
More vids is the best solution. I agree!

Last event I was at last year wast at MIR (Maryland International Raceway)
350Z - 15.8
RX-8 - 16.3
Heads were held in shame. Nissan and Mazda respectively issues restraining orders to the drivers stating that they were not to come 100 yards from a dealership.

I figured my 350Z roadster was a 15 second car or so. I never bothered testing it because its assets are more along the lines of being rattle free and a pleasure to drive. The handling is fantastic and smooth. They're incredible cars for the money.
Speaking of Dealerships..... This reminds me of the day I was driving by the Nissan Dealer in my last FD. This was a couple years ago. The FD was stock at the time with 17,000 original miles. Out of the lot comes a sales person and a prospective buyer in a new 350Z. Of course the sales person in the pressed shirt and tie is driving, beating the **** out of the new engine before break in is done. Ooooo I want that car. LOL He pulls up next to me while we are rolling about 30 mph or so and they both smile at me, then nailing the 350 Z. I followed and smoked by the guys waving. They pulled up to me at the next light and looked pretty sad. I wonder if the customer purchased the car. LOL

I took that pic about two days ago. The picture looks funny though. I guess something went wrong when I shrunk it or used the home computer to load it. It looks like she has something under her chin. I see if I can fix it or take another one later.
Let this be a lesson to you. Go after the "nerdy" ones in high school.
