Nothing special, just pulled my first v8 :)

I'm out test driving after removing P/S and A/C, and installing a JIC carbon fiber strut bar, and supra pump. A newer mustang in the opposing lane at an intersection revs at a 5.0, the 5.0 revs back. It was LOUD! Way louder than my greddy titanium. So I thought, hmm... Maybe he'll play. We ended up right next to each other, and slowed down to about 40. He dropped a gear, and I went to second. We drove like that for about 10 seconds, lol... I guess neither of us wanted to honk or floor it. So he finally hammered it.... Man those things are loud. For a split second I thought he was gonna rape me, then I guess I spooled up. Pulled back next to him instantly, and got maybe half a fender, changed to third and pulled a good half a car by redline. Then we both SLAMMED on the brakes as the speed limit there was 40, and I guess the top of third is what, a little over 100?

He pulled along side and gave me the thumbs up, I did the same and said that was a good run, he responded, "that thing runs good" haha.

I don't think I've ever had an opportunity to race a V8, much less win. Just felt like sharing :0)

Good stuff. That mustang must have been modded to be able to keep up like he did. If it was a stock 5.0 or a stock 4.6 he would have had his butt handed to him.

^ it sure didnt sound stock? haha. I have very limited experience with V8's in general, but hearing that thing at full throttle makes me want one. NEVER in my FD mind you or a mustang for that mater, lol, but in something!

mustang guys always put on loud exhausts IMO. Their bark is worse than they're bite. Nice job!

beating a ford doesn't count

try out a ls1 or lt1 and see how you can really hang with those over sized and underpowered motors

I understand the new 5.0 is a big car but I think they have 420HP. your boost range is 10.7 to 12. So you are running at near stock boost - 2lbs more and you pulled a 400+HP car?

Your sure your didn't race a 6cyl? They have 250 or some ****

^ When he said "5.0" I just assumed he meant older fox style mustang. However, most people call Mustangs "5.0"s even though the 96-2010 have 4.6l in them because they don't know any better. They only just put a 5l in the 2011 Mustang which I am not sure is even out yet.

My wife wanted to drive a F150 for some strange *** reason. When we were at the dealership they had the 2011 Mustang with a California skirt package. The salesman said the skirts were the only difference between it and a GT.

If he meant an older Mustang with a 4.6L some of those were brutally slow.

Prior to joining the rotary world I've owned 3 5.0L mustangs so I am kind of a fan boy lol

I believe the new V6 mustangs are 300+hp direct injected. Similar to the V6 direct injected 300+hp camaro. The new 5.0 GT mustangs are out and look to be pretty impressive but I have no personal experience with em yet.

OP - good job!! I had a fox body mustang think he was going to pick on my lil rx7 right after I picked it up... He never even stayed w/in a car from 0-60ish.. His face was priceless. Of coarse that was when the only mods to my car were 12psi and a tune (still running stock exhaust). I did not make any mods to the car until I learned a little more about the rotary. I do not believe he was modded with the exception of an exhaust.

I agree with the great sound of those mustangs. I am not that big of a mustang fan, but personally I think their exhaust note sounds far better than that of the LS series cars. It just sounds mean.

Want another win? Race my '97 Mercury Mountaneer. It has a Ford 5.0 in it. I bet you could walk away from it...

I am still looking for the fox body that beat me 6yrs ago (when my motor was stock w/ low compression).... My god, till this day i still remember that car and been looking for him for the past 4yrs.
Double_J, since you are into mustang before..do you know an orange-ish fox body stang (with hood pins) and with rear windshield decal: "slightly modified"?? I met him in mississauga..

I lived in Mississauga for several years, and went to the track a couple of times with other Mustangs. I did see a coupe that was bright orange, and it was at Square 1 a few times. I do not remember the decal but it had hood pins too.
