Nissan 200SX... wanna be SR20DET

Ok, yea, street racing is bad. Ok, got that outta the way.

I was going down the highway and saw a green 200SX coming up behind me pretty quick, he passed me and I got behind him. His car has Nismo on the left side rear, and SR20DET on the right side. Big huge exhaust muffler that sounded terrible. Black hood, slightly lowered.

My first thought was, cool! Might be a nice car, if it had that engine.

We were both in the left lane, me behind him, and another car in front of him, and one to his side. The right lane was completely open in front of the car to our side, and I had a feeling that as soon as he could he was going to jump over and try to take off. We were both going about 40 MPH in the left lane... speed limit was 60 MPH. As soon as the guy in the left lane got up far enough so that the guy the in the 200SX could move over and take off, he did. I heard him down shift and floor it. So, I down shifted a floored it too, only to find myself coming up way too fast on his bumper. As soon as enough room cleared, about 1-2 car lengths from the guy in the left lane, I jumped over, and as soon as I did, I could hear the other guy going into his next gear, hella on the gas. But when he shifted, I heard no BOV....

So, I was topping out 3rd, and shifted to 4th. At the top of 3rd, the guy in the 200SX was on my rear bumper, 4th gear shot me way ahead. I stopped when I hit 110. We were coming up on traffic and it wouldn't be safe to approach traffic so quickly. As I slowed down, I was going to try and get next to the guy, but he moved behing some cars and tried to stay far to the side... probably embarrassed.

I hope that I see that guy at the next car meet. I really want to know if he is planning on dropping a SR20DET in there. That would be cool. I do enjoy the fun races.

Anywho, I guess stock 200SX with a huge exhaust, and probably a warm air intake, can't even stay close to a slightly modded S4.

Oh yea! Street racing is bad!

A slightly modded s4 n/a shouldn't want to mess w/ a sr20det, should it ? Thats silly he was sporting a SR20DET badge. Must've been an 200sx SE. An Se-r would've given you something to strive for....

If you're talking about the USDM 2-door sentra from the mid-90's, then the se-r's had the SR20DE, not the turbo version, and the normal 200sx's had the normal range of sentra motors.

However, the USDM 200sx from 1984-1989 was the S12 silvia, and came with the CA18ET, CA20E, and a few with the VG30E. Fun cars, I had one with the CA20E and altho slow, it was well balanced and light, quite toss-able.

Then of course theres the euro and aussie 200sx with the sr20det in what we know as the 240sx hatch body

def not, i'm not saying they're the fastest in the world, but in my s13 w/ sr20det i wouldn't be afraid of an NA s4 w/ light mods.

I live in Bremerton, WA. An area that doesn't pride itself on education. This is a big military town. All about joining the navy and spending the rest of your life drinking and collecting worldwide STDs.

Most kids around here join up with the navy and then take their bonus, half for drinking and misc useless stuff, and the other half they buy a big wing, warm air intake, some type R badges, a body kit (unpainted of course, that costs too much), maybe an under glow kit, and some rims. Most of them shoot for the cheapo sleeve coil overs to lower their car, rather then buying all new struts and springs or a real coil over.

So, I had a good idea the kid was a tard and didn't have an SR20DET in there. I know most of the real tuners in the area, and if this had been done, I am sure I would have heard of it.

Just a poser though. Eh, he probably told his girlfriend in the car.... "I was only at half throttle."

LoL. I thought he might even be able to keep up. But no. I wish i lived in an area without dumb rice.

If so then an SR20DET lost to an S4 N/A....which I dont see happening unless this 200sx weighed like 5000 lbs

Yea.... if he didn't have a BOV then my car owns majorly.

I know he was trying to race because he dropped it down in gear and tried to take off, very high revs and shift. Oh, and a little of the cool blue smoke mod out the tail pipe....

Eh, rice.

I know there is worse rice, but here in Bremerton, we have lots.
