LOL, if he had a blower upgrade this thread wouldn't be so long.

Cobras can put down lots of power, but have poor results on the street. LSx Camaros and Vettes own Cobras on the street with less power.

Cobras need loads of power in order to be competitive.

I have yet to lose to a camaro or a vette. I've raced heads, cam, full exhaust LS1s. The main problem cobras have is instant torque, so hooking up on the street is difficult.

Yea it did, but I got tired of **** breaking and going through motors. If I had to do it again, I woulda kept the 7 and gone the LS1 route.

Didnt I help you push your FD up into that parking space to take the pic back when we were at Gotham?

Next time I want some of this action. You are going down, Mr. Huk

Mind me asking why you picked the Cobra as your next car after the FD? I can totally understand wanting to just get away from the rotary, but most everyone (including me) that I know with Rx-7s would still want to stick with the 2-seat, lighterweight cars. Why not a C5 vette? Im not bashing the Cobra at all, I know thay are good cars and can make gobs of power, it just seems like such a huge change in platforms.

I found the Cobra with only 7k miles and it was absolutely mint. Some older lady traded it in for a Hummer H2 and I got a steal on it. I was considering a Z06, but I drove both back to back and the Z06 really didn't feel that much better for the additional money. The Cobra is also much cheeper to modify and I am biased towards forced induction cars. Heads and cams and exhaust on a Vette will cost you 6 grand. I am already beating cars with those mods and have alot less invested. To do forced induction on a Vette you need to build the motor because it lacks forged internals, and your talking about big bucks there. I wanted something reliable that I could have fun with for not too much money.

Makes sense.

btw, little baby chickens go 'cheep cheep'

90% of the people surfing the parts for sale section are 'cheap cheap'

get the difference ?

cheaper to modify...are u high? how much does a n2o kit cost...then its game over!Forget about doing heads and cam. Thats a waste of money. The z06 is the best bang for the buck car in stock form and/or modded.

A 500plus z06 would murder a modded cobra like yours and all it takes to get there is n2o. in fact so would any ls1 with a shot and a few mods. I used to love the fact that u can throw a chip and pulley in a cobra and make good power for cheap. but really all u need to do to a vette or ls1 is get a decetn size shot and u will smoke a cobra with said mods and most fully modded single turbo rx7s and supras.

No offense but i cant see how u sold your fd for a cobra. thats apples to oranges. One is a sports car and the other is a muscle car. Heh if thats what you are into now adays then to each his own. Only car thats a step up from a fd is a z06 or porsche turbo in my mind.

I've never been a big fan of nitrous. I like to have the power always there. Not when I have a full bottle or race gas. I've ran vettes and other LS1s with 100-150 shots and they had nothing on me. The reason why I went with a cobra is simple. I can make a ton of reliable power for cheep, it handles at least as good as a supra in stock form, and there is countless aftermarket support. They share almost nothing in common with regular mustang suspension. The motor is forged, t56 trans, its a really good starting point. The fact of the matter is RX-7s cannot make any decent amount of hp and be reliable. Pass 360 to the wheels and it goes to ****. I was making close to 500 to the wheels but it was on race gas. I got tired of replacing motors. What is the point of having a car when you can never enjoy it cause you rare always working on it? I dont know if you know much about modding LS1s. The can handle very minimal boost in stock form. My friend just supercharged his vette and it cost him about 15 grand between the blower and the built motor to handle it. At my point in life it just isn't worth it.

Glad to see we're playing civil in here.

Ihor, I think your silver FD was cursed. You had some electrical problem related to the fuel system or something. Ever since I stopped using hurley apex seals (and got a 3 bar map sensor) my motor problems are a thing of the past, and I'm making quite a bit more than 360......

really...thats suprising cause my buddies z06 with 100 shot (only 100shot, not 150) trapped 127mph vs your car trapping 118mph. thats murder. My FD traps 118mph with 360rwhp. i wouldnt even think of racing the z06 with the shot.

Dont get me wrong..i like the cobra. n2o isnt my thing either. Especially since my buddies (ls1 and z06) couldnt beat me with bolton parts so they go get some juice and think they are bad as ****. just pointing out how powerful some of these cars can be when u throw a cheap n20 kit on the car.

i agree with u there. thats why i havent gone single yet. but i didnt buy the fd to slap cobras, z06s, or ls1's around at the local spot. I never really understood that sport much actually. All it really is about is who spent more money. you can make a ls1 ws6 insanely fast in a straight line..but there is no way u can make that car as fun to drive as a FD. My car is a friggen blast to drive. I cant imagine a "funner" car to drive, literally. The only car thaty i would sell mine for is a 911 turbo. Every other car is a downgrade in fun factor in my opinion. And i wont sell my car till i buy a 911.
Having said that it is more than capable to beat down most other cars around. But it cant take down the big dogs nor is that what i want it to do. If that was my intentions i wouldnt have bought the car in the first place.

Sounds good to me . I should have my aquamist sorted and installed by then, along with the TII diff and diff mounts/trailing arms/toe links.

I hate it when u talk about the Hurley's.. Oh well as long as it they get me through Deals Gap. Another 1000 miles! I know I'm sitting in a ticking time bomb. 7500 miles ( in two years) so far. I am seriously considering just pulling and replacing them.. G

sorry man. good thing about them is they do minimal damage when they break. get a water inj setup, isnt there a coolingmist setup that is like 300 bucks? that should help keep you from an freak detonation, and you won't have to worry about it as much

I drove something like a 2003 or 2004 Porsche 996 turbo and I wasn't impressed. It was stiff instead of nimble and the turbos were a lot less responsive than the FD's. It didn't seem that quick either but it was the Tiptronic version. FD owns it in fun factor and looks if you ask me. It's not worth it to get 4 wheel drive and a name for the asking price IMHO.

yeah i drove in my bosses manual 911. it was friggen sick. the fit and finish just blows away the fd. i didnt drive the car but it sure felt fast and nimble to me. The traction was pretty amazing as well.
I definaltely liked the porsche in comparison to his two ferrari;s....the 360 or the Super America.
