someone posted this in that thread ....

"I had a fc3s... '88 tenth Anniversary edition convertable.... went through three rotaries in about three years. but while it was running, it was a blast... those things are faster than they should be.. especially the TII.... they're also prone to spontaneous combustion (aka- fuel pulsation dampner leak) as for the n\a..... I can pull one easily in my n\a auto mr2.... but from what you are saying, with your mods.... I would've put my money on the mr-2.... that is unless the 13b is street or bridge ported..."

10th AE convertable?

thats funny ... i would post on there of how much of an idiot the guy is if i didnt have to register .. so i wont waist my time!

what are the mr2's rated at? They have similar weight, it would prolly just come down to mods, tuning and driving skill.

Back when i had my gsl-se a freind of mine had an auto mr2 and we were both stock. Id take him under any chance under the sun. The auto mr2 isnt anything to brag about. The car was well built and i liked it but its sort of like our cars and the fact that the auto takes all the fun and grunt out of it. That auto mr2 my friend had would only go up to about 110-115 before it pooped out too. Its a nice car but i agree with the above about him taking an n/a fc with an auto mr2.... Unless hes got tons done to it or he raced a fc running on one rotor i highly doubt his statement. The car was so slow in comparison to my se that i could screw up and still take him. Oh well, they are cool cars.

n/a mr2's use the 5sfe from a camry. not incredibly fast. The 3s-gte from the turbo puts out about 200-225 depenging on the generation.

the n/a 2nd gen MR2 made like 140hp...then you have drivetrain loss.

They're slow as ****. even w/ the stick. Oh and even though they look SOOO much smaller than an FC, they still weigh 2800-2700lbs IIRC.

My dream play car is a FD, but I used to own a 300whp MR2 (now I own a WRX). MR2's are definatly fast, with minor mods you can be deep into the 12's, and if you are a good driver the turbo upgrade the guy was talking about could land you a rare 11. Honestly, I just think the guy couldn't drive.

After I sold my MR2 I almost bought a FD, but I restrained myself cause I would just have the smae problems I did with the MR2 (not practical as an only car, especially for snowboarding and such).

Just my 2 cents,

Dan

MR2's are slow.... j/k. I find it kind of funny how the MR2 owner says his car is slow and couldnt beat that RX7 when he is running the stock ct26 turbo. Even if it is modified to a 50trim, that turbo is no good imo. When I replaced my ct26 with the t3/t04e i have on it now, it was like a new car.

they have a 130hp 2.2 with a increase in 93 to 135hp, the na's weigh in at the 2650-2700lbs range

this i thought a bit funny

"it is a hard pick but your going to spend alot of money with either car...i would probably keep the mr2 the motor is more reliable i heard with most rx7's you have to rebuild the motor after 60k miles or itll run like crap... and the mr2 has more torque than the rx-7. Then again boh cars are very rare..i would like to own a rx7 too but i dont want to deal with the rotory engine. if you ask a toyota forum more likely theyre going to tell u to keep the mr2 good luck though

oh yeah my friends 94 rx7 TT cant even touch me (if that helps)

i have 91 jspec 3sgte with blitz nur spec
blitz Dp
bitz BOV
Greddy profec b BC 14 psi
255lph walbro fuel pump
k&n air filter
spec stage 2 clutch
ats throttle inlet
stock turbo took it to the tracks last month ran 13.8"

he ran 13.8 1/4 yet the Stock FD could not take him? i persoanally think it's teh driver cause FD's with good drivers run 14s yet his .20 sec faster car can "not even get touched by an FD" i think the other driver needs to learn how to drive better (not saying i know how to drive good) but the comparison is kind whack i thought, alothough i was proud to see some people sticking up for the Roatry, and not just bashing what they don't know (although some were getting close) i am happy to see more truth come out bout the Roatry from guys who used to own one now don't cause of mainly the cost :P.

so do you not think that exhaust can give you that much power on an n/a
i have seen a dyno that showed a 27whp increase on a 91 n/a
so 30 is pretty close to being right
i have also seen a 59whp increase on an 89 TII both cars were completely stock before and only full exhaust after

cosmo the reason we see 59whp because of exhaust is strictly because it raises boost. if they raised boost pre exhaust to where the boost level would be after exhaust then we would see a much smaller number. Granted the exhaust is a huge deal and key to getting everything out of your car but most people dont facter in the fact that boost increases with a full 3"

that racing beat exhaust that is linked on that site seems like a gigantic waste of money.. maybe its just me speaking from my cheapass turbo dodge mindset, but id rather just buy a 3" mandrel bend from summit for a downpipe and just run it out the side. better performance, a lot less weight, and it only costs 30 bucks.

i wasted 600$ on an exhaust for my gsx before i really knew what i was doing with cars.. never again will i own a turbo vehicle with a cat, a muffler, a silencer, or more than one bend. and im not paying more than 50$ for it either.

kind of off topic.. sorry
