last year when my friend has mr2 , we used to go cruising on friday nights on the canyons. we were fairly tied, except my fc was alot easier to drive in the canyons while the mr2 you have to fight the car through the turns[mid engine]harder to drive. when we did a straight line roll from3rd gear itwas purely a tie, insane!!!!!! then he sold his mr2 for a motorcycle... gosh i miss that car....memories.............

Nice kill!!!!!!

Its quite simple ,if your going to bash someone that has a strong NA Rx7and your a Rx7 driver yourself ,then rather not post.

Thank goodness i didnt change my mind from taking the stupid *** Turbo off my Beetle`s 13B.

Not sure who that was directed towards...but dont take MY post wrong. I *love* NA cars in general...so much I took one of my 93 MR2 Turbos and put an NA motor in it. Sooo much nicer of a daily driver.

HOWEVER, unless you beleive that ignorance is bliss, a lot of people in this thread were simply pointing out that there was something wrong with the MR2, it was bone stock, or the driver was a moron. If you want to go pulling up to the average MR2T and think you're going to walk him with an NA FC....I hope you don't mind getting a dose of education

2.2L MR2, single turbo, stock head (no porting or valves) on race gas:

Thats Sergey from Dallas dyno sheet isnt it?!
He's Mr2.2liter on the local car forums Dallasimports.net, that car took over a year to build and sounds like a Machine gun going off.

Sure is The company that I work with built and tuned that car (Aaron Bunch - ATS Racing). Saying it took a year to build is a little misleading. He waited for a Tilton clutch (garbage!) for over 6 months. The only thing special about his car is that he ran a T88 to its maximum boost (35 psi) which most people are scared to do. Most of the motors ATS builds, including the one in my car, are much more built than Sergeys. We all run 1mm OS valves, porting and larger cams (Aaron and Matt run 264s, I run 272s). Additionally Aaron and Matt have L19 ATS/ARP headstuds allowing them to hold mroe boost than Sergey's car can - Sergey really lukced out holding 35 psi with "normal" ARPs. Sergey has nothing but cams in that bad boy (hence the killer spool for a T88)- but he is the only one crazy enough to squeeze 35 psi thru that bitch hahaha.

Everybodys car sounds like a machine gun with a 2 step/antilag, but the 4" exhaust does make the "booms" a little more pronounced :p

I'm actually thinking of trading my NA FC for a MK1 MR2 Supercharged
I'd really rather have an FD, and MR2s are alot rarer than NA FCs.

just an interesting tid bit, my bropther no longer has his turbo mr2 but my friend recently shelled out the $ to have his na engine replaced w/ a jdm turbo 3sgte. not the highest hp one, the one that puts out 225 hp. all he has is an HKS intake, gutted cat, mbc and possibly a shitty ebay turbo manifold (my brother sold it to him but i dont think he got it on yet) w/ stock fuel system and turbo and no supporting mods, he turned the boost up to like 20 pounds and ran a 12.1 1/4 mile

My GF's brother has a 1993 MR2 Turbo. Heavily modded. His last dyno was 438 HP. He took me for a ride... and holy crap that thing is fast. he runs mid to high 10's in the quarter.

But, like he said, handling isn't that great. He said he prefers my car for handling. MR2 is *** heavy. But, it is fun to ride with him in the rain. LoL. He just barely touches the gas going out of a corner, and we are sideways. ahha

Good kill. I am shooting for 225 HP N/A. I hope God can help me on that one.

438whp in an MR2 certainly does make for a fun ride

However, I wouldn't call the MR2 "***-heavy" or "not great handling" by any stretch of the imagination. It is slightly rear biased - MKII Mr2 is 43/57.

Unlike many F/R cars, the MR2 takes skill to drive. Once you master it, however, it is much more rewarding than most F/R cars. The RX7 is one of the few F/R (actually FM/R) that can hold a candle to a properly setup M/R car. Do you think its a coincidence nearly every exotic is Midengine?!?

I wont try to argue the case since we're on an Rx7 board, but just know this: If you want to pick on something pick on a domestic rustang or a honda civic. Cars like Lotus, MR2s, Ferraris, Lambos and McLarens are all built with one thing in mind: Handling. You're not going to trounce any of them, you may give them a run for their money (if you've dumped a LOT into power upgrades) but many of them will simply stomp you
