Wow, 3000 of damage? That is surprising.
And ya, I see this type of thing all the time, though I have never seen it actually hit anything. I will be driving and then suddenly 50 feet in the air is a massive slab of ice that flew off of a car a second earlier. I always thought that would hurt.
I will admit I am guilty of it sometimes, though I almost always clear it off (unless I physically cannot get it off, which has been known to happen here). And yes, even the little slabs that come off are quite loud and you know what happened.

she didnt do any damage to your car dude, it was random and the **** happens when you drive in this weather. why act like a hard *** about it... theres no way i would know if a chunk of ice came off of the roof of my winter beater van and hit someone behind me.
be glad insurance is covering it, but more importantly drop any negativity towards her for it.. the **** happens in this nasty weather.. thats why i drive a pile of **** that i dont care about when its crusty out like this.. ive had too many actual dumbfucks slam into me because they didnt know how to drive on ice

The fact is, it's illigal in PA(and I'm sure in indiana too) to drive with ice on the roof of your car. You HAVE to clear it off. if you don't, it can fly up and total someone elses car, possibly kill them, if a chunk goes through the windshield. Check out the law, you'll see.

yeah, its illegal so i cant just say oh well. you cant just decide which laws to follow and which ones to ignore. there was another incident locally this winter where ice flew off a truck, hitting the windshield of a car and causing an accident. the ice shattered the glass and put a young girl in the hospital...not ok in my book. who are you to tell me to drop any negativity towards her? do you know the whole story? when i spoke with her on the phone she accused me of making up damage just to get money out of her. she siad she didnt konw there was any ice on teh car...and then later said she knew it was there she just didnt know it hit me. she told me i should have tried to get here attention, when i told her i drove next to her waving my arm, she said she saw that but didnt know i was trying to get her attention. maybe i wouldnt be negative if her story matched up and she didnt accuse me of just trying to take her money. she apologized at first but then said she would deny everything to her insurance company. im not being a hard ***, i could press charges for hit a run and for having ice on her car. i dont want to be a dick, i just want money to fix my car. if i had a beater to drive around then i would, but i have one car that runs so this is all i got, besides the roads were were fine at that point, just a little wet. how was i to know ice would fly off another car? im nopt trying to be a dick to you but its frustarating enough without someone i dont even know telling me im in the wrong for getting hit by ice from a negligent driver
