"All this LS1 hype is exactly that. I see LS1s running at the track but they are not putting out any time the imports are throwing out there with smaller motors. Ya the imports are turbo but the LS1 is usually 2-3 times the displacment of the import."

I rest my case.

Yep. MSRP was $41,400 for my 1995 PEP. With 10 years of inflation, that's well over the price of the Corvette. By comparison, my '02 Z06 was $49,600.

So let's see what's been covered so far in this thread...

1. Displacement argument. Check.
2. Age argument. Check.
3. Cost argument. Check.
4. Styling argument. Check.
5. 1991 LeMans argument... anyone?

I'll race any C5 vette in my N/A FC as long as there is 2 inches of snow on the road. I figure if you are going to compare cars (as they were built) you have to compare stock to stock. You can dump $10k into a metro and it will whip a C5 vette up and down the street. A vette is a vette and even though they are just barely catching up with modern technology (pushrod?) they are still awesome cars. However I've witnessed FD's with intake and exhaust only beat the hell out of C5's and vice versa.

It may be old technology but it makes power and is reliable. How many 600+rwhp rotory motors are driving the streets. 600+rwhp out of a LSx motor on pump gas isn't all that uncommon anymore. I agree with you about being able to make anything fast, do you want a metro? lol

Majority of the time, it comes down to driver, even from a roll if the cars are within a certain range of each other.

Apples to apples, taken from Road & track mag April '94:

Chevrolet Corvette (9/93)
$41,026 (as tested)
5.4/14.0 (0-60 / 1/4mile)
158 Top speed
176 (70-0 braking)
17 (fuel Eco)
0.89 (road holding)

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (5/93)
$70,511 (as tested)
4.7/13.1
179 top
161 (70-0 braking)
17 (fuel Eco)
0.92 road holding with 315s in the rear & 275s in the front

Mazda RX7 (9/93)
$35,252 (as tested)
5.3/13.9 (0-60 / 1/4 mile)
157 top speed
156 (70-0 braking)
17 (fuel Eco)
0.99 road holding with 225-16s all around

Whether we paid over sticker its unfortunate. And beating a new Vette, well, what can I say? Smoking a C6 is also smoking last years Z06.

I like all cars. I grew up driving a Chevette for christs sake. My first kill was in it. You know what i beat a freakin geo. And to tell you the truth i was the happiest guy in the world. BTW still have the chevette can you say rotory plans in the rear future. And my second car was a subaru gl, i think it was the only front wheel drive ever made, i dusted my freinds v6 camaro again over joyed, then i wrecked it. still dont have my license back and have an fc with no motr. Now all i can do is build them and watch what i build win without me driving. Last summer my dad and i built a 96 vette thought we were kings of the road and then we raced a kid at my school. in his little import a 1989 t2. Ha i said we got a v8 whats this thing a rice buner i said we beat him off the line the first run (stop light to stop light) then we got on the interstate still thinking we are invincible and that little car blew our doors off. And i can respect that i can really respect that. So what this guy has done with a 12 year old car is beat like 400hp v8 that deserves respect so good kill.

I think the original comparison was price of the FD back then vs price of the C6. Also the price was much lower on the 93 C4

The kill could have been fleshed out a bit to make it more interesting, but nice nonetheless.

With data from 1993. I listed the sticker price for my '95 PEP and my '02 Z06, two cars that I bought new and therefore know exactly what the MSRP was. Comparison with inflation applied to the earlier car's price is absolutely valid.

Once again, what was the ******* point? That there was a difference in price between the '93 RX-7 and '93 Corvette? No ****??

I gotta a idea since Chevys are the bomd and RX7s suck why dont all you people who dont like the RX7 and always wanna slam it just sell your RX7..? I am sure at this point GM could use your bussiness. So what, so a RX7 beat a Vette...? It happens get used to it. I am sure there is plenty of vette forums all you dumb asses can go stroke yourselves on. I like the RX7 and the rotary engine I dont care if its the fastest or whatever it works for me and I stand behind it 100%. As far as the 17 yr old and his mommy boughten Vette good for you. When I was 17 I was staring at Marine Corps enlistment and at 18 I was a Marine. Let go of your mommas titty and do somthing for yourself brat.

Stand down private. hehe
Don't be mad cause my mom loves me.
You may also want to READ this thread. I don't think there has been one person here who thinks RX7s "suck" as you put it.

I agree with Hot Canine. As far JimLab how did you get the name of a person and a dog mixed into one...? Dad could not find a woman...? Jimlab I think you've been cheated the best part of you ran down the crack of your mommas *** and eneded up a brown stain on the mattress.
As far as no one giving a **** Lab no one gives a **** about your Vette talk on the RX forums. No one give a crap about the over hyped GM motors and all the B.S. that goes with em. If they did GM would not be in financial ruins. I know you obviously give a **** or you would not have bothered to reply. Toyota is about ready to "Sweep and Stomp" GMs dumb ***. So why dont you go run your **** holster where someone would actually give a ****, on one of the GM forums. Guess what Corvettes are not perfect and the reason Vettes have not gone up much in price is because GM cannot sell em at higher price. GM has to make deep price cuts as it is now just to move their crap. I know your a GM man Jimbo so I know you give a **** about that. I know you hate to hear that Toyota made 12 billion last yr while GM raked 600 million. GM is a sinking ship and it is from years of building **** boxes. Yes Vettes can get their *** handed to em by RX7s, 300ZXs, Supras and many other cars. For everyone to act like some major feat had been accomlished here is just unreal. Its a corvette people not a top fuel dragster.

Correction, that's the kid who wanted everyone to think his parents handed him an SL-55 AMG... but never could manage to produce pictures of it. That's also the kid who claimed he'd have a brand new 2003 Honda S2000 the minute they hit showroom floors... but didn't. That's also the kid who claimed he was looking for a mint silver R2... but it had to be the right phase of the moon and within walking distance or he wouldn't buy it. And finally, that's the kid who originally listed his car as an FD when he first showed up on this forum... but didn't really have one at all, as it turned out.

You have to give him points for consistency, at least. He was full of **** right up until the very end.

Hey there's nothing wrong with pushrod. 350ci of displacement is going to make 600 hp alot easier than than trying to make it on a little rotary. Pre C5 vettes rattle (at least every one I've been in) and have awful interior. Any vette between '74 and '96 I wouldn't touch. I mean the vette motor would be much better if it was 32v DOHC. But there is nothing wrong with pushrod but its been proven inferior and for quite some time.
