On my way back from work, I was cruising in the left lane, doing like 70-75 mph. I look in my rearview, and behind the honda directly behind me is an older nissan 300zx. This body style, same paint, too...not as clean though:

Anyway... after I noticed him, I moved over to the middle lane, and dropped speed to around 60-65 mph. Still crusing along in fifth. I let the 300zx get beside me, and I looked at his car for a bit, shot it a few glances, he did the same. We paced each other for a bit, up to around 80. Anyone with an NA FC knows there aint **** in fifth gear, so I assume he hadn't downshifted yet, either. By this time there was probably about 500 yards between us and the next closest car, which happened to be in the right lane (3 lane highway.

Anyway, at about this time I looked over at him and heard him downshift, very slightly, over my RacingBeat's growl. Saw the car squat in the rear very slightly. At which point I dropped to fourth gear. I could have wound out third to around 90-95 mph, but I'm still kinda trying to save gas, lol. Right about now I'm at around 4500 RPM IIRC in fourth, after rev matching, and I stomp on it. Letting my stock port 13B scream. About now, we're both in our 1:1 gear, and I have probably about a fender's length on him. The race is on.

Now I'm no longer concentrating on his car, but looking at the road ahead. After a second or so of stomping in fourth, I look at my tach. Almost 5000 RPM, just got past 100 mph. The Nissan's getting WALKED! Start to look in my mirror at around 5500 RPM, and he's about two cars behind. I took her up to close to 6000 RPM, and tipped the speedo at around 110-115 mph, and by this time had about three and a half to four cars on the ZX. I called it quits, traffic was coming up, kinda fast.

The Nissan didn't see me slowing down yet I guess, cause he was closing in on me pretty quick. I tapped my brakes twice, not a brake check, just a quick double flash to let him know I was slowing down, then moved over to the middle lane again and let him get next to me. As he does, I see a big smile on his face, and he throws me a peace sign, while I smile back and throw him a thumbs up and 3 beeps. He beeps back, then gasses it again. At this time we were back to cruising speed. Probably around 60-65. He's about a car length ahead, just to show him I was modified I decided to do a quick 3rd gear redline (well 6500 RPM) and shot some flames and a backfire or two.

That's my latest kill. I know those old school z's aren't that fast (Neither is an NA FC!), but it was a fun race, with a nice driver.

I know several guys on the RX7club don't like the 300zx that much, but for some reason I like those. A friend of mine has one with some mods (er, well he borrows it from a neighbor who doesn't drive it due to it being the car he got for his wife who divorced him....)... I only remember it has some racing clutch and a tranny for good acceleration. Feels nice in a straight line.... Can feel the weight on turns pretty well. But all around it seems like a pretty nice car to me.

a local kid with a late modle t/a with int/ex was asked at a show if he would want to run this "peice of ****" 300z for 100 bucks lol... The z was built and put down like 450+... (but he didnt know it) Its on video somewere i duno if the kid in the t/a ever ppaid...

I like Nissan's, and I've always been a fan of the Z cars. From the 240Z to the Z32. Not a fan of the 350Z, though.

my friend has one of these and they are nice cars for cruising. not to down the z (which is an awsome car) but the power just isn't there. still sweet kill. it is always nice to have someone who is cool after getting killed.
