507 is at the flywheel though my 285 is at the wheels. That diinan m5 iis the older one, I believe the 2006 m5 is a bit quicker.

i would LOVE to see your 285whp dyno run, rather than your over exaggerated estimates. id be surprised if you were at 230whp.

Damn

Sucks that standard luxury cars today come with exotic amounts of horsepower that even all purpose sports cars have a hard time keeping up with.

Almost makes you think sports cars are just a marketing scam made to think your in a hot ride.

I had nearly the same mods on my old FD with the exception of a high flow cat vs. a midpipe and dynoed 286 SAE corrected (DynoJet) at .75 kg/cm^2 on the PFC

boost is just a measure of intake restriction, so 10 psi through a freer flowing i/c is more airflow than 10 psi through a stocker. imagine blowing 10 psi through a straw, and 10 psi through a garden hose. same pressure outside of the straw, which is what boost measures, but shitloads more air passing through it.

its all about cfm into the motor y0, not how much excess pressure you are creating to get it

boost is a point of reference, nothing more

well they say 0-60 or 62 mph in 4.7 seconds... thats not too bad

500hp and 4000 lbs but with great gearin from the 7 speed should equal around mid 12's at i'd say 114mph

C6 vette performance in a big luxo sedan...

He's got an intake, catback, midpipe, downpipe, Power FC, FMIC all @ 11 psi........shouldn't that about equal his estimated 285 rwhp numbers?

I fell into the same thing. I found a brand new M-series Z4 and I raced that thing. Kept up with me basically even but I started pulling away as I began redlining.

Totally underestimated that car. Went online and looked at the specs and found out we are pretty even.

I'm stock with all bolt ons minus ecu and midpipe.

M5, especially the brand new ones, I wouldn't even try lol.

i apparently made 310RWHP with those mods, and my PFC isnt tuned.

apparently b/c ppl are skeptical about the dyno i did my run on.

For what it's worth I watched the new M5 at the drag strip last Friday. DA was about 6000 ft that evening and it ran 13.7s @ about 107 as I recall. Corrected times for sea level would be around 12.64 @ 115.

I have a DVD video camera, but don't know how to get it into my Pentium 111 450. Oh well.

The stock intercooler with alike intake temps will be faster with stock boost, but stock will heat soak sooner than aftermarket larger intercooler if you make pass after pass. Stock intercooler will have less lag as the turbos don't need to fill and compress the larger volume of the aftermarket intercooler and over volume duct work. It's not hard to sit on a dyno and knock off a few pulls on a stock intercooler and loose power then compare to a larger intercooler that sustains cooler temps better, but it's not going to win the first rolling punch.

On a rotary club drive I raced another FD on the freeway which had just had 25,000 of parts and labor stuffed into it with a single turbo, full exhaust, Power FC, intake, large front mount intercooler, etc. The driver of the car was a mechanic from the shop. I was running a down pipe and K & N air filter with modified stock intake set up to improve forced induction. I beat the other car repeatedly, both cars 10 psi.

After grinding stock interior exhaust welds of the stock cat flush and adding the cat back and Power FC to DP and modified stock air box I beat a street port, Power FC 15 psi, full exhaust, fuel system, larger injectors, single turbo three times badly. As far as I can tell around here most of the mods built to make dyno power suck for street racing from digs and slower speed rolling puches.

After adding a mid pipe and fuel pump and a bit of weight reduction to the above I beat the Stage 4 996tt in a rolling punch, all with stock intercooler.

how much hp was that 996tt putting out??? also, what your saying is if your running stock boost a bigger intercooler isn't going to do anything???

Theres a Dinan M5 I've seen on the way to work almost every day of the last couple weeks. He's always going heavy on the throttle, and that thing sounds mean. I can't wait till I get my car back from A-spec and I see that guy on the street. Its gonna be on! I'm gonna try to get it on video too.

I'll be pushing well over your ~285 HP so it should be much more interesting.
Becareful with that E39 Dinan M5.

If its a regular Dinan it has like CAI, Headers, Xpipe, Exhaust, reflashed ECU
and some minor suspension upgrades..

Now if its a Dinan S2, a E39 M5, with all the above mods. but with a
Intercooled Supercharged and some more aggressive ECU tunining.
It can have up to 600hp..

ask around in @ www.m5board.com. Very likely that M5 is on the forum.
