This.

Simplicity is one of the reasons as well. Easy to make power, easy to maintain, easy to own.

I guess that relates to lazy though lol.

Having an LS FD is probably amazing but i just cant see turning my own FD into one. I need the annoyance and weirdness of the rotary in my life still.

A C6Z is FULLY driveable. What do you mean?

You dont have to drive around town in 1st gear only.

The crazy thing is the engine makes an assload of torque at ANY rpm, at any gear.

Seriously you can be in 6th at 50, which is basically like 1000rpm lol and hit it and the car will lurch foward. Its amazing the torque those engines have.

I guess you have to ride in one to understand.

Serious though.

I have had a lot of fun cars in my day. From a turbo talon, to a 3000gt, honda civic SI EM1, audi tt 6spd and some more. All of which was basically a get in and drive car. Needed nothing but gas, oil changes and the yearly tuneup. I got bored of those cars and never kept either one them for more than 2 years.

They were fun but i need something to keep me entertained, something to keep me busy. Something that will thrill me on the weekend when i take it out because thats my intention of the usage of the car. To have it as a weekend toy.

This is the longest i have ever owned a car in my life, going on 8 years now. And even though i havent put on massive miles on it. About 15k in my ownership, i am still NO WHERE near boredom with the car.

Its truly a car i will have til i die.

My grandfather is an avid corvette enthusiast. I have driven my fair share of Z06, trust me.

The car can make gobs of torque, but the higher the first gear is the more clutch you have to slip in order to get the car moving from a stop. Go take your DD, and instead of using 1st, use second from every stoplight, every stop sign, etc. It's a pain in the dick, isn't it? Nevermind the fact that your clutch is probably screaming "**** you" as well. That's why, even the torquiest of engines are still undergeared in first.

I know the car is driveable, I was just answering the question to why most cars aren't geared that way. Nobody is making you drive around in 1st gear only... But nobody is stopping you from launching in 2nd either.

Yeah true but alot of people still daily drive their vettes no problem.

I think its geared that way to have a FAST acceleration because the gears tighten up as you row through them.

Some crazy number like 90 in 2nd, 125 in 3rd. It has 3.42 gears.

Not really practical for a regularly street driven car but still CAN be driven daily as a street car, then go to the track and stomp on cars, even if it is stock.

I still think the C6Z is an amazing beast.

A late model Z06 will go down with a properly set up, high boosted twin turbo car..

Ill get a PFC when its time to go single. I honestly dont feel like spending a grand to get the PFC, then bringing it to someone to tune it for me for another couple of hundred.

My car runs perfect with the stock ecu.

I have HKS RS intake, greddy fmic, HKS DP, STOCK CAT, PFS 3" catback.

Basically all the bolt ons minus PFC and high flow cat.

That set-up is ok for ~12 psi, beyond that it's high risk - I assume you have something like a Pettit ECU

You should buy a PFC and lose the stock cat, get a high flowing muffler. Get some 1300 secondaries and Supra fuel pump. That stock ECU really limits you...

Srock ECU is really only reliable to 10 psi - you would get smoked by countless cars

By going non seq you are slowing the car down as you have no punch under 4500. The car feels lethargic. You are playing with fire on that stock ECU. Whatever you do don't take the stock cat off until you have a PFC that is mapped.
If it's going to be a while until you go single, I'd buy a PFC (you need one for the single anyhow), then buy two 1300 cc inj. , go back to sequential and buy a mid pipe (muffler) something like an XR-1 or the mid pipe muffler from the RX-7 store. Then get the car mapped and you can run a lot more boost.

Non-sequential done professionally, with a fully ported manifold, wide open exhaust, and lightweight flywheel, spools just fine - I get full boost at 3400 and an extremely smooth power curve. Hack conversions have terrible power delivery, yes.

lol i know about keeping the stock ecu.

When something breaks and its time to go single (whether the engine or turbos go), then ill get the PFC and set the car up properly.

But right now i dont like downtime as i only drive the car on the weekends. So im driving the car as much as possible enjoying it while its not broken. lol

Btw, i have changed my plugs and it drives A LOT better than when i first posted this thread.
