Got absolutely destroyed (03 M3 vs. 93 RX7)

I was on a pleasure drive down by Jones Beach here in Long Island when I come across a nicely modded yellow RX7 with what looked like a rollcage parked on the shoulder of the highway. I noticed the driver was in the car and I slowed down, hoping he was going to keep it moving (that area is absolutely perfect for a friendly speed contest). After crossing the Robert Moses Bridge and slowing down to near-walking speed , I finally spot him moving as he quickly makes up the 1/2 mile gap between us and drives ahead normally. I follow him as he makes his way onto Ocean Pkwy, which is basically a flat 20 mile straightaway with super light traffic. Again, perfect

We made it onto Ocean and I did that dance you always do when you're feeling out whether the other guy is down for a race... sped up a bit, slowed down, then sped up to go in front -- next thing I know, I hear him downshift, so I immediately go to 3rd and it was ON. Or... not? He instantly puts multiple cars on me before I even get to fourth (60 to around 100). W... T... F... We line it up again, and again he leaves me like I would leave a stock Civic DX automatic. We did it again a third time, just in case I didn't get the picture. Seriously, it wasn't even a race, more like a rape He parked off on the shoulder again and I wave and continue on -- but the assripping was still very fresh on my mind. I decide to make a uturn and come back... he was still parked, so I pulled up behind him and we talked about his car. I found out that he was street tuning the car and that in its current state of tune that he was pushing upwards of 450whp. Ah, so that's why I lost

Dude was nice enough to give me a ride in the car.... ho...leee... SHIET. The car accelerates like nothing I've ever been in. And then he made the u-turn and REALLY gave it some gas That kind of acceleration + sound of large amounts of air entering the huge single turbo = me saying "HOLY ****!" every 5 milliseconds.

Thanks to AnthonyNYC for the thrill ride.

NYC peeps... if you see this car coming up behind you, leave it alone

lol nice to see a humble m3 owner. I always run into m3 owners that think they can own EVERYTHING on the street

Sans the paint job, his FD is a SLEEPER!! Nice If I had the money, I'd pick up an E46 M3 for a daily driver

Throw a turbo on a m3 and you have over 400 hp

Yeah, don't diss the Germans, the last Turbo mag featured a couple stories about 1000+ HP M3's..... that's not even getting into the 1500+ M5s. Ever since I tried mistook a 911 twin turbo for a Carrera I have had nothing but respect for the Germans

PS: Everyone should test drive a 911 twin turbo is ever given the chance. You will have a hard on for a week.
