g35

about an hour or so ago Im coming home on 66 and as i get on the exit ramp to 66 i see a black g35. I got in the middle of 3 lanes and he was on the left. I diddnt think he was going to do anything but guess i was wrong.

little later when i hit my exit onto 50, (if u know it its a real long s curve) and he shoots behind me and into the rightmost lane, i follow. He gets in the left again and i follow, then i hear him downshift and take off, Kinda funny I was in 5th at 65mph then i dropped to 3rd and stayed right with him, (i hope to god he wasnt WOT because I was holding back a decent amount) Then when we got to the end of the exit onto 50 it was a straightaway, bout a 1/4 to 1/2 till my exit. I get on the right and before I get situated he went at it. I was already in good gear to go so i follow and I walk this guy like hes standing still. I shut down 3 cars ahead of him and took my exit.

Bad driver or slow car? I really do hope its the driver i like gs

g35 is about 3500lbs and 280hp.

spec wise it's not slow, but its hardly the fastest thing on the street.
it's an awesome car for cruising and dd however.

hmm odd, there must have been something wrong do the math VR4 weighs what like 3791lbs, and has 300hp and 307lb/ft, G35 weighs 3435lbs with 280hp, and 270 ft/lb, the newere ones have 18 more horsepower but we'll use the older ones.. this is from a roll basically and the G35 is RWD and VR4 is AWD.. a 20 hp difference isn't going to make up for all the awd drive train loss, and the torque also, and the 300 lb difference, i don't think the g35 driver was really going at it. Those things sound like they are going fast at mid throttle because of that mean sound engine. I don't know call me retarded but i see the G35 walking away from that race from a 65 mph roll..

Depends on what year of the G35 you ran. The previous ones had 280hp, while later models recieved about 300hp. Calculate in drivetrain loss for either car, and its no surprise why you stayed with it.

yea... Why i said i hope he wasnt going at it. But im my defence... im only running 8 psi... safley I can handle 15 with no modifications at ALL. But on the safe side lets say i turn it up to 13 psi... Id be about 340-350 crank, It would be diffrent then.

to add... with the psi raise alone bone stock most guys in any year vr4 run 13.3-13.2 in the quarter mile with a 1.8ish 60. yes street tires

Yep awd sucks from a roll... Untill you uprade turbos....

sock 9bs can only hold 10 psi to redline so that 14 really isnt even 14 psi.

not trying to show up or anything, just stating some facts.

No i understand i was just saying i found it hard to believe he was really going at it just w the drivetrain loss and and the weight issue but you never know.

G35's aren't that fast. I've seen the 06's run in the quarter mile and my best friend owns one. You can tell an 06 from an 05 by the rectangular versus circular white reverse light lens.

The 06s were hitting mid 14s at best. I've played against a white 06 on the freeway with the mustang. I left him and continued to gain more of a lead every time. The mustang was hitting 13.9 or slower at the time.

i raced a newer G35x in my irocz and ran him pretty hard. he had a passenger and i didnt.. i trap nearly 100 on most days with a best of 100.9mph.

and i stayed ahead of a twin turbo stealth--all stock from what i can tell. the race started with me 1 car out in front and i hit it as i saw him behind me swing out to try and pass at wot. it stayed dead even all the way to about 70 untill i blew 3-4 clutch pack in the trans... and couldnt go to 3rd gear.

G35 coupes are faster than the g35 sedans and about as quick as the 350z which are about even with me. the vr4's/tt stealth are a tick quicker than me for the most part.

yeah the g35x is alot heavier and awd hurts..it doesnt get all the power the ground like the rwd setup. plus the auto trans....

still it should beable to do low 15's to high 14's i would think. the G35 coupe should be near even with me till up topend where they should pull me. 350 TPI has no top end power...

I Agree!

My wife has a g35x. It's a great daily driver. It has really nice low-end torque and it is great for cruising. It handles pretty good too. It's no where near as fun to drive as my FD, though. On the other hand, it's not smelly(mid-pipe) and every thing works on it.

G35 is suppose to be a high class car and it's not meant to be for racing. Have you guys seen photos of the new infinity R35?

that's one of the car that i'm looking forward to race with and win it in glory.

G35 are nice but I used to work for Infinity and honestly I would choose a 4dr over a coupe any day. More fun to drive. My T2 with bolt ons has killed lots of them but I'm a really good driver. Also the 7's powerband is just better
