haha I wish my mom bought me my car! but then again im 25 and i work for my things, and everything ive done to my car , and not everyone cares about racing
if i wanted something faster i would of got a Z or a mustang or some crap!
A fricking Ford Escort with the right money would be faster then some of these cars so really who gives a damn about whos faster then who, its illegal on the streets anyways unless your going to the track!

so read again no one ever said this car was better than YOURS!

Gad damn dude, chill and if you didnt buy it to have a fast car dont take any of this **** personally. I have my own reasons for wanting a sports car, and yours are obviously different than mine. Once Rx-8s are used and have depreciated to a much cheaper price, I will jump all over one, I just dont want to spend 15-20K on them right now. Dont get me wrong, I like Rx-8's, I like them alot. But I like owning my cars outright, I never cared for making payments and giving my bank the title...

different strokes for different folks.......i agree with both of you guys....my first car being a good lookin s13 with a piece of crap ka, anythings an upgrade. this being my second car and buyin it all on my own being 21yrs old i think i got a nice car...knowing that the fds are way the hell faster i couldnt find one that was good looking enough, the paint job on mostly all of em reminded me of my 240...but then again my 8 does look sooooo much better than my s13 and that being sed it also wayyy faster and more FUN to drive...cant we all just get along?? rotaries should bring us together not hate each other.

First, that is a lie. The 8 looks like complete ***. I saw one approaching in my rear view the other day and thought it was a Mazda 3.

Second, I can just tell by the last 3 posts I read by you that you are a major California Tool.

Third, I can fit 4 females in my FD. 2 in the back and 2 in the passenger seat. You must be carrying around fat bitches in your 8 to only fit 3.

Oh, and also...I am surprised that you made it to 25 and have a job to "earn" your car when you are so illiterate you can't capitalize, use proper placement of periods, and misspell "dissing".

Holy ****, I bet you think the proper term for "proper placement of periods" is "tongue twister."

You're kidding me right? The RX8 is the laughing stock of the rotary family. Ask anyone thats not retarded which car they think looks better, an FD or an FE and I guarantee the 7 gets the win. And I doubt you even know 3 bitches to fit in your car unless you're talking about your mom and sisters or something. I wouldnt brag about owning a "sports car" with 4 seats that cant get out of the mid 14s in the ¼ mile.

Where are the ricers at? Most of you 8 guys dont even know a thing about rotaries, you just thought the car was cute. Be serious with yourself, a bolt-on 7 can beat any turbo 8 you'd throw at it just about. You guys slap a set of rims on your car and paint the engine bay covers and think you got a race car so whos really rice?

you are comparing first gen rx8 to third gen rx7? how about 1st gen rx8 vs 1st or even 2nd gen rx7. any non turbo rx8 vs any nonturbo rx7 and the rx8 will win

I'm from the RX8 board. In the last few months, RX8Club members have sort of taken the aftermarket into their own hands. With Black Halo Racing (an upstart by Charles R. Hill) and MazdaManiac turbo kits, the RX8 scene is really starting to take off. The two biggest hurdles have been ignition and ECU tuning, and with Mazsport's coil kit and Cobb's RX8 Accessport, they've finally been overcome. Turbo kits from bigger outfits (Esmeril and Mazsport) have come out as well and are making good power. There are already a few RX8's making over 360hp at the wheels. Granted we're running with about 300 extra pounds than an FD (~2700lbs vs ~3000lbs curb), but I think that you'll start finding RX8s with a few tricks under the hood when you go hunting for them. The days of the RX8 being Mazda's red-headed stepchild are over now that we're making affordable, reliable power. Now, I can't speak much for myself- I'm still saving $$$.

Given the timeframe of the OP's kill, the RX8 he was racing was probably using the GReddy turbo kit, which was just okay- never particularly good. Push it past 6-8psi or so and the tiny turbo just ran out of air. About 280hp to the ground was the best you could do with the kit out-of-the-box. But they were the first turbo out there and it's only about $3000 for the base kit, so they sold lots of them and most turbo 8's you'll encount use it or some variant. The kits I listed above are all capable of making 10+psi and are seeing much better results. Now other cheaper options exist- some guys stick with the greddy kit and use a different snail, or go with the Pettit supercharger, which makes an easy 290-300hp on the ground but doesn't really have anywhere to go after that.

My point is, remember that RX7's have had almost 25 years to gain a following and a dedicated aftermarket. Given that the 8 came N/A, has a bitch of an ECU, and has only been around for 4 years, it's doing alright. Just give it some time before declaring it an un-moddable dog.

I want an rx8! (no sarcasm) id give anything to get rid of my wifes TC!!

i just drove my friends wifes rx8. intake and greddy exhaust. Id LOVE to have that as my daily driver. My wife, who can barely drive a manual, and is VERY timid behind the wheel of anything, much less my FD, smoked me while i was in the 8!

so its slower.......ok, its got 4 seats, a modern interior and is reasonably new. it has its purpose....and i like it

I fail to see the point of this. I would sure hope a $12,000 USD 1985 RX-7 would get beaten by a $27,000 USD 2003 RX-8. You've got 18 years (actually 25 years since the 1st gen RX-7 debuted) of technological advancement, and generally a next generation sports car should be marketed as better than the one before it, otherwise I don't think it would sell.

And the reason he compared a 3rd generation RX-7 vs. a 1st generation RX-8 (not many choices there) was probably because they are the most similar in terms of performance, and most of all, are the closest in age.

And before you can bring it up, yes I admit I didn't account for inflation, but thats not really the point

And before you declare me on one side of the argument or the other, my dream is to one day daily drive an RX-8, and have an FD as the weekend / project car.

Let me break it down (from somebody who owns both FD and FE)

Exterior: FD
Interior: FE
Subtle Styling Notes: FE
Reliability: FE
Technology: FE
Track Potential: FD (for now)
Aftermarket: FD
Handling: FE (I've taken both to the canyons: stock vs. stock)

Just an observation, but it seems like it's always some broke and ignorant FC owner/new arrogant FD owner that bags on the FE. Give it a rest. Most of you have never driven one, because you don't have the means to. Yeah, that's a ******** move, but guess what? Thread after thread of being broke, having no money for repairs, or just generally not knowing what the **** you are talking about leads me to this conclusion. Newsflash, you drive a 15-20 year old used car. Here's another newsflash: NA vs. NA the FE wins hands down.

Quit typing up bullshit and/or regurgitating other member's post that you secretly want to blow in a dark alley.

As for Andrizzanizz, almost every FC owner I know is a broke *** wankster douche who tries to emulate Initial D. Does that make them all that way? Can I assume all FC owners are ******* idiots, simply because you choose not to capitalize a single sentence?

Now thats interesting, now that I think about it, I've never heard a comparison between the two in terms of their handling.

Surprising, huh?

The FD has less body roll, but I felt more comfortable pushing it and it kept going with no complaints (with my wife in the car!). My comparison is Mt. Palomar East/South Grade. You never hear it really because most of the detractors don't have both, or have never drove both. Shoot, most of the guys who bitch about it haven't even drove an FD! That's just my opinion though, I'm sure an onslaught of fan bois will be here to question my driving. Rest assured, there are people on this board that can say I'm pretty aggressive in the canyons.

hmm, iirc when top gear tested the FE, they loved it handling wise.
I think they said that it's really smooth- you can just throw it in the corners, and it's very predictable of what it's going to do, and easy to correct.
I think Clarkson says it's one of the easiest cars to drive fast that he's ever driven or something along those lines.

I test drove one, and it was a pretty damn fun car, but me personally, I'd prolly restore a vert before I'd get an 8.

congrats on the kill.

i havent really driven an RX-8 but i hear alot of negativity about it so i cannot make any decision based upon other people's opinions about its performance. id have to drive one first.

i would not mind owning one however as a daily driver, i get to drive a rotary powered car and am able to take more than 1 passenger along. if i feel like stepping on it, it has the ability to perform decently nonetheless.

"if it aint broke dont fix it", id keep the RX-8 stock to stay under warranty and i dont think its wise to mod out a new car unless you have $$$$ to throw away.
i got my 93 to satiate the speed demon

Dont get me wrong I like the RX-8 but its nowhere near as nice looking as an FD. I do love the interior though and the shift ****. Its got low performance for 238hp but its not as bad as most people think, its only alittle slower than a stock FD and yes I love the RX8s handling. I just hate these 8 owners saying the 8 is the best looking thing on wheels and that 7 owners are ricers. Id still rather my FD which is why I bought it instead of an 8. And to the guy that said 7 owners dont own 8s because we dont have the means to go look at prices for both cars used, FDs and FEs are about the same price.

Not really. I guess maybe a used 8. Their coming down in price, but most of these guys can't shell out 16-18K for a good FD, much less an FE. I'm talking about the 26-35K for a new one.

You actually seem like you know what your talking about, and your not one of those "douches" i mean i know probably there is an *** of fc guys trying to be drift king or whatever, and it was wrong to generalize all the FE guys im just saying around here thats how it is.

And you're right about all fc owners being broke, because i am.ha
