Kinda long but the story is what makes the race fun.

So normally unless im called out by something which i think can take me I try not to race to much on the street, well i was coming home one night after dropping off some parts it was about an hour drive so the chance of getting in some trouble was pretty high especially around the bay area. Well I had made it all the way there and I was about 10 min from my house when I had just made my last freeway transfer, well one on ramp up I notice an evo getting on the freeway not agresivlly just merging like normal, i think nothing (its an evo) i was about two cars in front of him when he pulls on. Im just cruising around 75 and he drives pass me and putts about 3-4 car lenghts on me before I see break lights. I am really not interested(its an evo) so I back off a little to see if hes just breaking or if he really wants me to hurt his feelings. Mind you im really not into it it was a hot night and I had been driving for about 2 hours and my PFC was reading around 42 degrees so i knew I was missing quite a bit of power. So im cruising now around 65 and sure enough he goes out of his way to put himself right next to me. Its about 10:30 at night and the freeway is open so im like **** it hes gone out of his way to call me out lets see what hes got( figured he knows what im in so he must be pretty confident) so we cruise up back to about 70-75 im in 4th and I kind am playing with the gas trying to encrouch him to go. I watch him downshift and as soon as i started to see his front end lift I got in it. And I was gone, not a little gone like a lot of gone maybe 4-5 cars by the time I let off which was around 125. Im laughing at how retarded this guy had to be now knowing that he is just some kid who picked up an evo. After about 30 sec hes back up next to me, here we go again im thinking didnt this kid learn anything. So I figure Ill give him the benefit of the doubt maybe I jumped on him ( yeah I just wanted to make him feel stupid again ) lol so I decide im not going untill he is at my front bumper. I wait and wait and he goes, pulls about 1 1/2 cars on me and then i get in it the catch i love it. Hes probably about 3 cars in front of me before I was into boost and making up the ground, although at first i had my doubt I was soon right next to him by the end of fourth I had caught back up to him and had my door by his front fender shifted into fifth and still pulled he had no top end. Ended up pulling in front by about 2 and I was accomplished in my thrashing lol My exit was now coming and it was a perfect end to a trip out in the fd. thanks for reading

my friend is one, and I cant wait to go at him with my fd (when I get it back, 5sp conversion is a pain in the ***), I think he has 350awhp, but im not sure... i know its over 330 =/ (all bolt on mods)

full bolton evos could be fast and take out your 320 rwhp fd. i'de be careful labeling (evo) those cars if i were u.

 

I don't know about on the highway though, I think the FD still wins (if they have comparable hp, the fd can even spot the evo some hp and still win. from a dig is a different story though.)

who said comparable rwhp? the evo can make over 400 awhp on the stock turbos.....that would eat this 320rwhp fd and that was the pouint of my post. not sure what u are saying? that an evo with the same hp is slower than an fd...well no ****. but who cares.

that said evos can be made VERY fast, even when they are outside their "realm" (ie dig).

 

i am by no means an evo expert. i have had only one encounter with one that he said was 400ish awhp. i almost lost on a roll on race from 40 mph. u should also know that my car beats bolt on z06s.

i was under impression that over 400 awhp is attainable with stock turbo. can anyone clearify

 

Nah about 350 or so from what i've read.

2. 400 hp evo MIGHT beat a 320 whp fd on the highway, I'm not too sure however. but now if the fd was putting out about 340-350, it would rape the 400 hp evo (on the highway.)

Coming from the 4G63 world (the engine that powers DSMs [Evos, Eclipses, Talons, Colts, etc]) I know a bit about them. EVOs are scary. The local ones around here keep up with SS's, WS6s, and C5 Z06s. With a turbo, cams, head work, and a tune they can put down 500hp and be driven to work and back home.

 

we know that they can be made fast, and we know that it's the 4g63 engine. it's still nothing on the highway compared to an fd, comparably built.

 

again ur wrong. they are very comparable,

 

I believe the evo has a 16g turbo( or 20g?) in it, Im sure they can get up to 400hp but that really pushing it to the max.

 

the older evo (evo III?) that was never sold here had the 16g. that 16g is limited to the lower to mid 300's. By the 400 point your maxing out most mistu turbos, unless you forked out for a 25g which is a waste.

 

There seems to be a group of them around me, and they go on cruises together all the time. I've never thrown down against them, but i've seen them go against other cars. The most memorable one I saw was a black EVO go against a seemingly modded C5 Vette. They hammered it from about 60mph, and the EVO straight pulled him. It was pretty impressive.
The only weird thing was how rich those dude's cars all seemed to run. They were filthy pigs when they got on it.
