FD vs 997 carrera S...

HI

My friend have a 997 carrera S with porsche performance kit (381 hp)...he wants to try if the "sport" botton really gives 26 hp to the engine...He wants to run with my FD first with botton "off" and then "on"...somebody have just run with a 997 or 996 carrera 2?...what you think about the winner?

my FD have knightsport RF420 turbocharger, PFC, HKS full 3'' exhaust, greddy pulley kit, sard FPR, stock intake (kn panel filter) and stock intercooler

Can someone post some numbers on this. I raced one also, back when my car was slightly more then stock, and it had me by a few lengths. I am just curious, I did not have 13 psi at the time.

For the first time since 1977, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, launched two new 911 models at the same time: the 911 Carrera with a 325 bhp, 3.6 liter boxer engine, and the 911 Carrera S, powered by a newly developed 3.8 liter engine, which delivers 355 bhp. With torque of 295 lb-ft, the S model surges from zero to sixty mph in 4.7 seconds. The Carrera does this in exactly five seconds. Top speeds for the Carrera and Carrera S are 177 mph and 182 mph respectively. The two 911 models from the 997 series will be launched across Europe on 17 July 2004 (with the exception of the right-hand drive market in Great Britain).

Configuration:Rear Engine/RWD
Engine:Flat-6
Displacement:3824 cc
Horsepower:355 bhp @ 6600 rpm
Torque:295 lb-ft @ 4600 rpm
Max RPM:7300 rpm
Transmission:6-Speed Manual
Weight:3131 lbs
0-60 mph:4.7 sec
0-100 mph:10.7 sec

Hmm, our old friend "Pizzazz" for a License plate I presume? I still remember when he had his 930 Turbo back in '82 running close to 30 psi (so much boost he blew off some of his exhaust). That guy ALWAYS upgrades to the newest/fastest 911 Turbo offered (and then instantly mods it for even more speed....he's been doing it for ~ 25 yrs). Was it "Pizazz"?! If it was, it likely wasn't still stock. That guy loves his 911 Turbos, that is for sure.

See ya,
-Matt

We pulled over and talked, he wouldn't admit to mods but he doesn't own a weed eater that isn't modified. I am sure it was chipped and some other stuff. He couldn't believe how fast the Mazda was...

Would you say that you are a decent driver? If so, I see it being a close race but you pulling him by maybe a car or a little more in the high end. You are making some good power in a significantly lighter car.

Try not to do more then two pulls however, due to your stock intercooler and heat soak, I think that’s your biggest enemy.

See if you can get it on tape for our viewing pleasure. Good luck Rome.

His RX-7 has everything you can possibly do to, including a new ceramic seal set motor, running stock twins on ~ 1.1 Bar.
