This was dissapointing....

Ok. It's around 9 o'clock. And I approach a stop light. I notice a Cavalier to my right, next to me. All i saw was 2 big mufflers and thats it. looked pretty stock to me. So then the hick'ish looking fellow smiles at me. I felt like getting a kill ( since my car has been in and out of the shop for 2 weeks now)
So we both rev up at the same time, waiting for the green light. I notice that for some reason i can heard his exhust over mine

I brush it off. I launch fairly decent. I get a good rwd jump on him (about one and half lengths) And then out of the blue. **whoosh** he runs past me. I'm like WTF! But as soon as his strangely deep mufflers are past my ears; and i hear the roar of a v8; i knew what happened. he puts a good 5 lengths on me then shuts down. We pull over at a gas station and talk it over. He swapped a buik regal v8 into his Cavalier. He said he's gotten the weight reduction down to around 2500 LBs. He obviously had other mods (intake, exhust)
Anywho, that it was a funny story. But in the end... my 7 lost to a Cavy

I've never heard of it... all i know is you need to do something because its not acceptable to lose a race to ANY j-body... because its a j-body... ugh... why would anybody make a cavalier fast?

There are some supercharged and turbocharged Cavaliers in my area. They always try to pretend like they have nothing by shifting early and staying off the gas, but they'll pace me and give me the "Wanna go?" look. It's a good thing I'm not stupid enough to fall for that in my Celica. I'd like to run them in my 7 though.

V8?

That's sorta a weird swap for a Cavalier. I've done a nitrous kit on a Cavlier here in the Kato area, he also has cams and a build top end, runs 13's all day.

I'm sure the engine was in his front yard for a couple of years and decided to do something with it. It was janky looking, but it did beat me.

Or he has a place nearby that sells any motor for $125 if you pull it yourself. I'm going to have fun with the rotary, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any LS1's that go by on a towtruck.

Well, it just proves the theory that you can make anything fast. A geo metro could beat a R34 skyline if its done right.

Or IndyKid for that matter

are you sure it was a v8 and not the supercharged v6 3.8l. i have heard that this motor swaps into the jbody and most saturns relatively easy.

He told me it was a v8. I didnt hear a supercharger. But he did say that it swapped VERY easily. It sounds like a quick and cheap way to make an ugly car fast

I have yet to see tail lights, I think that is going to change because Radkins just got his car up and running and it looks like trouble.
